Strengths: + Decent image sharpness and very good color. + Good contrast under normal lighting conditions. + Small dimensions and footprint, light in weight. + Good heat management.
Weaknesses: - Meticulous tweaking necessary to align image properly. Even after many adjustments, image still has slight curvature, most readily seen by examining the borders. - Refresh rate at max res too low
Summary: The image is not as sharp as I had hoped (ideal is Trinitron sharp :-) and my eyes strain easily under the relatively low refresh rate (65 Hz) at max resolution. However, at its ideal resolution (1024x768), the image weaknesses I mentioned can be overlooked after using the monitor for a while and if you don't conscientiously look for them. Keep in mind that I am nitpicking, based on my experience with a Sony Trinitron. Overall, the Samsung monitor is conservative yet stylish in appearance, offers very nice practical image quality (movies, games, word processing, etc), and is one of the best values for a quality 17" flat-screen CRT monitor for the money.
