Strengths: clear reception. different ring for callers saved in phonebook if using caller-id. can charge two batteries at same time. Lighted display. can dial any number saved in caller-id mem. 3 mailboxes Weaknesses: forgets time if disconnected for a few seconds. difficult to reset functions without the manual. does not have battery backup. Summary: I have had no problems with this phone in the 3 years I have had it. It is my main phone, easy to use but not all that easy to program if base is unplugged for any time. It is very clean and clear compared to my two Vtech cordless phones. I paid $50 and it seems worth it compared to the dozen other cordless phones I have owned in the past 20 years. Strengths: None Weaknesses: Digital display, answering machine function Summary: After two years the display started fading and numbers and letters are not readable. Contacted Sony and was given an instruction for re-set, did not work. Was told to take it to the regional service center, which is 2 hours driving from my town. Soon after, I was not able to record my own voice for the answering machine. Then found Sony no longer makes phone and cannot get any support. Called the service center but an artificial voice mail answered my question and never returned back to me, neither for e-mail. This is my second Sony cordless phone and the first one had the same display problem, which triggered me to purchase another one. It was a big mistake. Strengths: none Weaknesses: system requires you to reset base unit everytime the power is interupted (even lights in home flicker, etc.) Has a speaker and a microphone but the is no way to have a speaker phone coenversation. Summary: Extremely dissapointed. This phone is a piece of junk anf I now have two of them.
