Strengths: Well balanced sound, gold tipped conections, very well built.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: As a video producer, I tend to lean toward the pro-audio monitors but after hearing these at a local best buy, I was hooked. These speakers have a very rich, full sounding presence that makes them shine over the competition. I also use JBL for live PA systems and sound stage and have always been a big fan of that "JBL Sound".

This particular speaker has a 3-way combination of low, mid, and high sounds that together can reproduce a spectacular sound, even better if you place them in the corners of the room to reflect off the walls. I'm using them with a Yamaha HTR-5450 with the bass & treble turned all the way up. You can really turn up you music without any distortion on these speakers what so ever.

Yes, they are a little heavy like the other feedback states, but how many times are you going to move them around? These are mirrored reflections of each other in true studio monitor tradition and you will find they sound better if you lay them horizontally as they are in the display picture and remove the screen cover for better results if using them for home theater movie sound, plus they just look more impressive that way.

Strengths: they sound great. hook up easy great 4 way gold plated binding posts very happy. will take all the power my ears can stand. the neighbors too for that fact. recommended great 3-way for the price
Weaknesses: a little on the big side for a bookshelf. unless you have a big bookshelf. more like end table top
Summary: great jbl product. looking for an affordable set of 3-ways, look no more for this great brand. very happy with the product!!! jbl very happy to help when called with questions on hook up. standard vs bi-wire hook up. it is a breeze.

Strengths: good price, excellent sound
Weaknesses: none
Summary: Use a pair for listening music as well as the front speakers for my 7.1 home theater system. Great sound quality. Good bass even without subwoofer. It looks and feels like being well built. Strongly recommend to buy.

Strengths: Great sound quality, would be good for either main speakers or rear surround
Weaknesses: A big footprint
Summary: I have had these speakers for about four months. Instead of getting a set of surround speakers I decided to go with individual speakers that would be good for more than movies. I am extremely happy with the setup. I went with all JBL speakers. Front are E100, center is EC35, subwoofer is E250P and rear are E50. All are Beech cabinets and look sharp. If you have the space, they sound great.

Strengths: Reproduce music extremely well. 5-way binding posts allow users to enable bi-amping or bi-wiring. Three way speakers that have a 175W per channel rating (360W peak).
Weaknesses: Big for shelf speakers. Rear cable Bi-Connectors can be confusing to use in single connection mode.
Summary: I purchased these speakers as a replacement for a pair of Bose 301IV speakers I purchased 6 years ago. I am amazed at the difference in sound reproduction. Although these speakers were a little big (they j u s t fit in my bookshelves), I am hearing some mid range sounds that must have been missing in my last set of speakers. For the money, I definately recommend these speakers over more expensive models.

2 Star ReviewNot my first pick by any means.....
Strengths: Decent sound for the money... Overall a C.
Weaknesses: Very boomy in the low 50-85HZ range... Very tinny highs... Overpowering Highs
Summary: I'm running my new E50's on an Alesis RA500 Reference Studio Amplifier. (About 175 Watts RMS/channel at 8 Ohms) With all that power, the true sound is brought out. When listening to music, movies or anything there is a very distinct coloration in the speakers and you get lots of high, and inaccurate, boomy lows. I have to say the mids were the tightest I've heard in this range.

The coloration is a very sharp cut on the woofer and the mid-range. Out of the woofer you hear strictly lows and in the mids you hear just vocals... You miss the entire mid-low range. The gap between mid and high is still present but JBL's amazing tweeter covers much of the muddiness of the mid-range...

I'm not radding on JBL at all. I'm just telling the facts... Big fan of JBL actually. I use the JBL Monitors in my studio THEY'RE AMAZING.

I was kind of disappointed..

But if your looking at other three way's...

TAKE A LOOK AT THE JBL E90.

Strengths: Great speakers for the price, reproduce lifelike sound at all volume levels.
Weaknesses: Grill logo should rotate horizontally/vertically
Summary: 2006-11-06 22:19:28 I bought these speakers with JBL E25 center channel to round out my 5.1 home theater, combined with JBL S38 and E250P sub from previous purchases. These JBL speakers sound great, match the JBL S38 well and can take alot of volume to rock the house! Well built and best speakers under $250/pair.

Strengths: Well built, excellent quality, loud speaker sound.
Weaknesses: horizontal not vertical..but, who cares!
Summary: 2006-05-29 13:19:50 Buy two sets and hook them up to a receiver that puts out at least 100 watts and hope you don't piss off the neighborhood. I have a old sansui that puts out 130 watts and a dbx subharmonic synthesizer (bass output unit). These speakers hold the bass well with the volume up and the bass subharmonic level up. I just don't hear the bass I feel it!! It's like having a sub without a sub. If you like it loud and want to head bang to some Led or black sabbath or just metal period.... these are it!!
