Strengths: Leveling up is MUCH easier, so you'll be obtaining new items fairly quickly. Better graphics than the previous series.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: There are sidequests to take, and similar to the original series there are also rewards for completing certain lists (item collection, monsters found, number of players talked to, etc.).

Overall, I'd highly recommend this game for any RPG fan. The storyline is great, the characters are memorable, and the gameplay is quite enjoyable.

Strengths: just like other .hacks
Weaknesses: just like other .hacks, broken into 4 parts again
Summary: This game plays and feels like the other .hacks for PS2. For me, thats a good thing, because I loved those games. However, many people did not like them. I am also a little disappointed the series is broke up into 4 games again. It feels like they are milking you for your cash. However, I love these games, so if you like the other ones, try these out!

Strengths: Great Cel shaded graphics and a surprisingly good soundtrack help keep you pumping through the game. The Battle system has also been revamped and really keeps the game moving.
Weaknesses: The game tends to be more like a movie, with loads of cut scenes and many character interactions to move the story along.
Summary: This game is meant for die hard .Hack fans. If your willing to watch the game more than play the game, your in for good game. I loved it, but thats because i love the .Hack universe. It's worth a shot to see if it's your cup of tea.

Strengths: Better battle system and graphics
Weaknesses: Repetitive
Summary: .hack//G.U. Vol. 1 Rebirth is the first installment of the 3-part .hack//G.U. series that is loosely based on the success of the original 4-part .hack series. It is part of the new .hack project that has released the .hack//ROOTS anime series as well.

.hack//G.U. Vol. 1 has a better battle system than the predecessors. It has strong RPG elements to it. Graphics is much improved and the voice acting is better. Battles can be repetitive at times but there are lots of interaction with the environment and team members as well.

Overall, I would recommend this game to RPG fans, especially if you like the original .hack games. You don't need to watch the related anime in order to enjoy this game, but it does help to under the characters a bit.

Strengths: Another one! Fun game play, long, great story
Weaknesses: There are two more games!
Summary: This game is similar to the first four .hack games and continues the legacy that these games provide lots of hours of entertainment. The story is great and is a must for fans of the series. Only bad thing is that there are two other games in the series!

Strengths: Improved graphics and gameplay making it more enjoyable
Weaknesses: If you didn't enjoy previous .hack, you probably won't enjoy this either.
Summary: A continuation of the series so if you are a fan of the previous .hacks, you'll likely enjoy this with the improve gameplay and graphics. But if you were not a fan before, then this is likely not for you.

This is also a very poplular anime series and Fans of the anime series would likely enjoy this as well.

Strengths: Better battle system, graphics, etc.
Weaknesses: Repetitive, dull dungeons
Summary: If you loved the previous .hack games, go ahead and pick this up. You won't be disappointed. If you're curious, I'd say rent or buy it when it's cheap. Personally, I love the storyline and that's why I keep playing it. This has improved many things over the original .hack games.
