Strengths: Price, sound and video quality top notch.
Weaknesses: Unit is very light in weight.
Summary: I think this is a great bargain for a universal player. I've played various brands of DVD-r media without any problems. This is Pioneer's replacement for the 563a and it received good reviews from varous websites.

Strengths: Memory saves the last played spot on any DVD even after it is removed from the player. The picture quality on my ancient TV is great. The zoom and slow motion features hold the picture quality well.
Weaknesses: The remote controls my TV for some reason so when I press play the channel changes sometimes
Summary: So far I have enjoyed this DVD player very much. I had a Sony that I purchased right when DVD was starting to become popular and the difference with the progressive scan is unbelievable. I now have to get a widescreen HD TV to really get the most out of this DVD player. My old unit has a few more connection options, but this one will work for my purposes for a long time. I have not yet had a chance to even try the DVD-Audio or SACD playback capabilities on this model.

Strengths: Easy menu navigation, lightweight, sleek appearance. Remote is well laid out.
Weaknesses: SACD playback not possible via digital link.
Summary: Purchased from CC for $90. Terrific bargain for a DVD player with SACD and DVD-Audio playback capability. Hookup to TV and home theatre was easy and completing setup through the on-screen menus took less than 10 minutes. Didn't even have to open the manual.

Have played several DVDs and have yet to find one that skips. Remote is well laid out and makes it easy to move backward/forward through the DVDs either by chapter or by 2x, 4x, etc. Picture quality with the component outputs is very good - no problems.
