Strengths: Superb picture quality, tons of connection options, Built in HDTV tuner, 3 HDMI inputs, thin profile, lots of picture controls.
Weaknesses: Remote isnt backlighted, and is very bulky and long. The "floating glass" trim isnt really beneficial, but just adds size and mass to the TV that I could do without.
Summary: I love this new Bravia! This thing has a SUPERB 1080p picture! While the low definition processing leaves something to be desired, anything above 720p looks outright amazing.
There are tons of connections on the back of this thing. The 3 hdmi inputs make this TV future proof, while the other connections (composite and S-video) make this TV "backwards compatible" with older components.
One very cool feature is the TV's ability to accept 1080p over component input. For all you Xbox 360 owners out there, you will appreciate this feature. The PC Input is also a very nice feature and the TV handles just about any resolution you can throw at it.
The only negatives I have found are the clunky remote that is pretty huge and awkward, and isn't backlighted. But, who uses the standard remotes anymore? Also, there is alot of "space" that isn't devoted to screen size. the trim bezel and floating glass do add a very nice finished look to the tv, but i could do without all that extra "stuff" on my TV.
All in all I would give this TV a 5 out 5 stars. Money well spent.

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, 1080p very comparable to plasma.
Weaknesses: Low end signal doesn't have the clarity that I expected, but high end picture makes up for it.
Summary: Great TV! The room that I have it in has windows and shadows causing glare. That would be a problem with a plasma TV, but with this Sony LCD, it's no problem at all. There are plenty of input outlets allowing lots of options. I love this TV, I give it 5 stars!

Strengths: Nice size for LCD, Great HD Picture, 3 HDMI Inputs
Weaknesses: Standard Picture somewhat weak, even with digital cable feed
Summary: Decided to buy a TV that would last for a number of years in the constantly evolving world of electronics, and this TV rose to the top of the search. To reiterate other folks comments, this is the same TV as the XBR3, without the 'piano black' finish, and since the silver better complemented our decor, we decided to stick with the XBR2.
The HD picture is phenomenal with a feed from the local cable company. I found the 'vivid' preset for picture to be way over the top, especially since the majority of programming that is shown on this TV is sports. I spent a number of hours fine-tuning the picture, and continue to tweak it every so often, but the overall picture is wonderful. Standard definition TV is somewhat lacking, and that would be the only 'detractor' from this TV's strength. Overall, an excellent buy!

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, tons of connections (3 HDMI +++), sleek design
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2007-06-19 19:03:35 I absolutely love this TV, by far the coolest design if you ask me. But more importantly though, the picture quality is awesome. It has more connections than you probably need, among them 3 HDMI, so you can easily hook up your tuner, dvd player and game console using HDMI all at once. It also has the usual suspects of course such as component, composite, Svideo etc. There is even a connection for your PC , so that's kinda nice.
I originally considered buying the XBR3, but realized the XBR2 is basically identical except for the color. And price of course. I always preferred the silver finish, so it worked out for me, I got the color I wanted and I saved like 300 dollars.

Strengths: excellent resolution (full 1080), fast response time < 8ms means fast moving images look good, vivid colors, wide viewing angle almost 180 degrees, lots of inputs including RGB for laptop, Sony style
Weaknesses: none I can think of, even non-HDTV signals look decent
Summary: 2007-02-22 16:32:17 I would recommend this model, 52XBR3 model is identical with a black border (who wants to spend extra $300 for a black border). I also tend to play downloaded movies on my laptop which can be easily hooked up to RGB and audio inputs for full 1080 resolution.

Strengths: (1) Controls galore; (2) many video inputs; (3) picture quality
Weaknesses: (1) PRICE!!! (2) remote control
Summary: I was debating whether or not to buy this Sony KDL-52XBR2. My other options included the Sony S and V series and the Sharp Aquos. In the end, I decided to go with the Sony KDL-52XBR2.
The XBR series is the best of the best LCD HDTV out there. First, XBR2 and XBR3 are identical electronically; the only difference is the case/border. The XBR2 is silver/white; XBR3 is black piano. I don’t think this justifies the price difference. The floating glass is a nice touch. But this is a debate of form over function.
Let’s start with the controls: They allow the control freaks and the video nerds out there salivating. The unit remembers all the settings for each input. At first, I tried to play with them but they were just too many, too much and too complex. In the end, I just used the Vivid default; there are other defaults.
Inputs: I don’t need to tell you how many and what are the video inputs. Amazingly, I used all three HDMI inputs: DirecTV HD satellite box, upscale DVD player and PS3. Once again, you could adjust the settings for each input independently. One minor annoyance: one HDMI input is on the side, so a cable sticks out on the side like a sore thumb; I think it is designed for the new HD camcorders with HDMI output.
Picture quality: Sony has historically been #1 in picture quality. The XBRs continue this long tradition. Overall, the pictures are sharp and clear even with the default Vivid settings. OTA free HD programming is flawless. However, this free programming is either 740p or 1080i. There is no 1080p free programming (yet). The only 1080p content is available via HD-DVD, Blue-Ray, Xbox 360 and PS3. As with many people, I am waiting for a winner between HD-DVD and Blue-Ray. PS3 on the XBR is fantastic. The SD and HD programming on DirecTV is also fantastic even though there are rumors that DirecTV and the cable companies are downgrading their HD signal to squeeze as much they could via their pipes. Once you experience HD, you don’t feel comfortable watching the analog channels anymore. As with most people, I still have VCR tapes. Needless to say, these look terrible on the XBR, which is expected: HD amplifies the defects and noise in the VCR recordings.
Negatives: It is EXPENSIVE!!! One could buy two (maybe even three) no-name generic 46” HDTVs for one Sony KDL-52XBR2. Also, at this price level, I wish the remote control is better: better handling, better design, better material, better control and backlighting.
I heard there were many complaints on the web concerning a clouding problem, uneven backlighting or technically called mura defect on the Sony XBR2/3 units. I did not experience this problem. I know for a fact that the backlighting is user controllable. It is possible (though not proven) that tinkering with the controls creates the problem. There are lots of controls that one could change.
In the end, this is a great and fantastic machine! The 1080p and the three HDMI inputs should future-proof this unit for at least the next five years. The picture is fantastic and breathtaking. Once you experience the HD content on this unit, you don’t want to go back to anything else. I say go for this unit. You won’t regret it!

Strengths: This is a vary impressive TV. Colors and resolution are amazing. Very easy to setup out of the box. Hooked up the cable and did a search for channels, and I was watching HD TV!
Weaknesses: The remote is a little large and the sensor for the remote is at the bottom of the TV. I placed something in front of the sensor and I could not find out why the remote stopped working.
Summary: I bought this TV using my Sony VISA card and saved almost $700 by cashing in the points I saved up. I would highly recommend getting a Sony VISA for this reason. When setting it up for the first time, I found HD cable channels that I did not know were being send over the line by my cable company. I thought I would have to connect an external antenna to receive these. I picked up about 8 HD channels using this TV without a digital box, just the cable coming into the house. I will still need to get the HD package from the cable company to get HBO, EPSN, etc in HD. Great TV so far.

Strengths: This a a great looking TV will make any room look more classy! Great picture quality on HD!
Weaknesses: The picture is good on analog channels I just expected better. A little grainy but we are going to keep it as more channels will be broadcast in HD.
Summary: I would reccommend this TV it is expensive and it is a little grainy on analog channels. The picture on HD is great and the TV looks great in the room. It is a TV you will keep for a long time

Strengths: Excellent picture quality when viewing HD programming and DVD's, 3 HDMI imputs, PC imput, headphone jack, and one of the best looking designs
Weaknesses: The picture quality when viewing standard definition is less than steller.
Summary: Overall I love this TV. The HD picture quality is second to none, and it's great for DVD's and gaming. I just wish the picture was better when viewing standard definition programing, but as more and more shows move to HD things will only get better. I love the 3 HDMI imputs, and having the headphone jack so I can listen to the TV when others in the house want it quiet.

Sony Bravia 52XBR2
Strengths: No reflection on screen. Great price. Pictures look great when watching DVD.
Weaknesses: Pictures are fuzzy when watching regular TV.
Summary: We are disappointed with the pictures. We also own Sony 50XS955 (50" plasma) and the pictures are clearer on the plasma. If we get an HD receiver but our favorite channels are not broadcasted in HD, what will the picture look like? No one can seem to answer this question.

Strengths: Outstanding picture quality with excellent color reproduction and relatively quick response time (good for sports, etc.). This the best set yet from Sony.
Weaknesses: The "backlighting" feature is a bit weak (only under word Sony). Otherwise this set has no significant weaknesses.
Summary: This set has excellent picture quality but because of its size will probably require professional installation for wall mounting. It can accommodate almost any peripheral you might care to connect.
The programing is quite straight forward which is pleasant for a change.
Except of the bezel, this set is identical to the XBR3 which comes with a black rather than a silver frame. However, with the XBR2 other colored bezel are available.
