Strengths: Extremely clean, clear response! Sound is truly reproduced "as it was meant to be!!!"
Weaknesses: Absolutely none!!!
Summary: It's been a couple of weeks now since I ordered and received a pair of these babies and I'm WAY impressed!!! I listen to everything from Heavy Metal (if you love Dream Theater then BUY THESE) to Classical to DVD and Digital Cable Moves and these speakers handle it all!!!
I originally started a few years back with a set of Infinity HTS-20, 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers (12” Powered Sub, four Satellites & one Center, all w/ 4" mids and 1/2" tweeters, 100w/ea., driven by an Onkyo TX-SR603X) and was blown away at how excellent those sounded throughout the whole sound spectrum, and with my diverse tastes. But I wanted to get something additional to really throw some punch into the front and fill the mid spectrum even more. And these babies did it!!! My old Fronts just became my rear 7.1 Surrounds.
Also, they are all very well timbre / voice matched. I think that even though the technology is different (Poly Cone vs. CMMD) that the voice matching between all Infinity's will be excellent. They fit in perfectly!!!
CMMD is excellent Cone material and is the reason that these speakers do not color the sound at all. I definitely notice the difference. But still, they fit in perfectly with what I already had!!!
I EXTREMELY recommend the Infinity BETA Series of Speakers!!!
P.S. I haven't tried it, but the BETA 40's might be able to stand without a Sub if you are not already spoiled by having one... But I AM!!! =)
