3 Star ReviewSpecification: 4 ohm 6.5 inch speaker with reflex ...
Strengths: cheap and cheerful
Weaknesses: noisy power supply - might have to buy a decent one
Summary: Specification: 4 ohm 6.5 inch speaker with reflex port. Active subwoofer 22W RMS. Freq response: 25-350Hz. Line level input impedance 50K ohm. Size 28x20x26cm (approx). Inputs: 2xRCA phono (L & R). Outputs: 1xStereo mini jack. Controls: On/Off, High cut, Volume.

Light weight unit designed to augment PC speakers to give that extra bottom end but I used it with an LCD TV (Relisys RTL2000). The unit comes with an external power supply and a jack to phono lead (although mine was missing). Plug the jack end into your PC sound card and the phono ends into the subwoofer. Plug your normal PC speakers into the subwoofer output. Plug in the power supply and off you go. First up is the power adaptor which is very chunky and when switched on, produces annoying mains hum in the subwoofer. Replace the this with a decent unit (12vDC >3A regulated) and the hum goes away. The subwoofer really works well and there is no buzzing or rattling from the casing even though it is light and plastic and made in China. The high cut switch removes the higher frequencies if you just want the unit to rumble away!! Having phono inputs means you don't have to use the subwoofer with PC speakers but can hook it into an audio setup although at 22W, it isn't going to shake the house down. In all, a handy bit of kit and it enhances the Relisys TV sound no end. Let down by the power adaptor though.
