Strengths: Internal hard drive records in HD and SD, OTA tunner.
Weaknesses: OTA tunner not as sensitive.
Summary: Recently discontinued!!! This HD DVR from DirecTV is MPEG4 compatible needed to view the all the HD channels available so far. It works very well so far without any problems. There are lots of connectivity options on the back including HDMI and optical outputs. DirecTV is phasing out this unit in favor of the newer (non-OTA capable) black one. So if you want to be able to record OTA for free get this unit while it still around.
