2 Star ReviewVonage
Strengths: Cheap easy installation
Weaknesses: Poor customer service, poor phone quality, poor account connection server is always down, in general not really worth the cost.
Summary: Customer service frequently gives conflicting information.

Poor phone quality, frequent outages. I started with vonage when it was new. I expected upgrades and hung in there for 2 years. after 2 years of poor service I switched to another VOIP provider and you would not believe the difference in service. I suggest you reconsider and don't fall for the first free month deal. Not worth it at all

1 Star ReviewWARNING: DO NOT sign up with VONAGE if you intend ...
Strengths: Cheaper alternative to traditional phone services. Can take it with you if you move, without changing your phone number.
Weaknesses: Most calls break up on receiving end. As caller, you do not know this, but you will get many complaints from those you call. Definitely not prime time service.
Summary: WARNING: DO NOT sign up with VONAGE if you intend to keep your current phone number. I submitted LOA by fax on the same day that I signed up, as they promise that you can keep your current phone number. After 2 1/4 Months, I called Asst Customer Service Manager, Bill Carter. Discovered that they forward request to your previous carrier, then they Conveniently FORGET about it. Learned from phone call, that there is NO FOLLOW UP by VONAGE. Canceled service today, after waiting 3 MONTHS. Extrapolating from my experience, You could be WAITING a YEAR or MORE, while paying for both your old phone service and their VoIP service. (Note: You have to keep and pay for your old phone service until transfer of phone number is completed.) No savings here, only more expenses with now TWO PHONE BILLS TO PAY. There are many VoIP competitors with AT&T, Verizon, Packet8, Lingo, etc., that you can easily find a cheaper/better alternative with REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE.
