Strengths: great bass, good noise reduction
Weaknesses: headphone jack needs to be positioned properly to avoid loss of sound in ear
Summary: Overall, you can't beat a noise cancellation headset for 30 bucks. My friend recommended this headset to me, and I am excited to pay 1/10 the price of the Bose set.

1 Star ReviewNot worth the low price
Strengths: Cheap
Weaknesses: Low volume, poor wiring will break within 3 months
Summary: I used these headphones for about 2 months. The volume was always very low, plus the noise cancelling feature receives interference from Blackberry's and other devices.

I say "used" because the wiring around the fold up earpiece stripped due to normal use after only these 2 months! There is now no volume in the right earpiece.

I would strongly discourage anyone from wasting their money on this - get a more expensive / better built one and it will probably serve you better.

Strengths: Very good noice cancellation. Dual prong in-flight adapter plug and drawstring travel bag included are very nice.
Weaknesses: It's a little too big. The cord is a little short.
Summary: I bought it because of a thanksgiving sale. Great purchase with the price $15. I think the microphone inside the headphone should have better feedback to make it work fine. I like it!

Strengths: Comfortable Full Ear Cups, Great Sond Deadening
Weaknesses: Very long cord
Summary: We just returned from California on a Red-Eye flight to Ft. Lauderdale. The plane was just about full and included lots of children and two dogs in carry-on cages. One of the little yappers was right in front of me and one of the dogs was in my row. We had stayed with my son in CA, who owns the newest Generation Of Bose Noise Cancelling Headsets. We wanted to purchase two sets..and two Bose were just beyond our (retired persons) budget. So we bought two sets of The Maxell Noise Cancelling Headsets w/ Full Ear Cups at a nearby discount store. My husband, who is an Electrical Engineer and VERY picky, decided to do a test: He tried both Bose and Maxell hooked to our MP3 player, in our noisy rental car (in neutral and revving engine), with grandchildren yelling. His final assessment was that the Bose had marginally better sound quality, but the Maxell had quite acceptable sound quality and BETTER sound deadening. We used the headsets on the 4-hour flight home and were VERY pleased with both sound quality from the airline jack hookup and THRILLED with noise cancellation feature. In addition, the comfort of the full ear cup headset was excellent. After four hours, my ears did not feel "mashed" or tender. So, must say that we highly recommend them for anyone who does not want to pay the extra $$$ for Bose.

Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: This unit works well. I've used it on an airplane and it cuts down the engine noise while allowing you to listen to a CD or the airline's built-in music/movie audio.

3 Star ReviewGood Value
Strengths: For the price they do a pretty fair job at blocking unwanted noise.
Weaknesses: Large compared to regular listening headphones.
Summary: I picked these up for very little considering sale price and rebate. For the money it was a good purchase. The headphones do what they claim and are a bit awkward to wear as I am used to small listening only headphones. I anticipate they will do fine on my flight to Colorado; no more droning engine noise (I hope).

Strengths: I've had this for about a week now. The sound quality is very good. I haven't tested this in plane yet. Comes with a carry case. Fits well over the ear.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Got this for just $30. Easily foldable and can be put away in the carry case. Fits well and very good sound quality. Definitely a great buy for a noise canceling headset.

2 Star ReviewMaxell Noise Cancellation Headphone Review
Strengths: Inexpensive, carry case, dual prong adapter
Weaknesses: Flimsy make, only cancels certain noise
Summary: The headphone was attractive since it provided an important feature (noise cancellation) in an inexpensive package. However, I found it to be very flimsy. It got scratched when I was removing it from the package. It only cancels certain types of noise (engine noise). It does not cancel regular noises like someone talking, etc.

2 Star ReviewMaxell NC II Noice Cancellation Headphone
Strengths: competitively priced, comfortable ears fitting
Weaknesses: unbalanced left vs right sound level
Summary: I bought this headphone when it was on sale. Noise cancellation works fair. It does remove most background noise. The weakness on this unit is that the left and right sound levels are not balanced. The left side sounds significantly louder than the right side regardless of noise cancellation being on or not. For those in doubt or are not sound sensitive, turn your volume to a low level and you will notice that you could hear sound from the left but very little from the right. Keep decreasing the volume, you'll eventually reach the point where you can hear from the left but the right is barely audible, if at all. My theory is that the cable goes into the left side and then ONLY the wiring for the right channel goes to the right side. Perhaps that is the source of the balancing problem. I hope Maxell is reading this and fixes the flaw.

Strengths: inexpensive, good sound quality.
Weaknesses: short cord, big size.
Summary: I had the headphone for more than two months now. I like it very much. It is very helpful when I travel by air. Its sound quality is good and it is very comfortable to wear. The price is relatively cheaper than other named brand cancellation phones. It size is a little bit large and the cord is a little bit short.

3 Star Reviewuseable headphones, not the best but it does its job
Strengths: cancels some noise, useable, good sound
Weaknesses: flimsy plastic, not the best sounding but can't complain since its price is very low ($10 after rebates), the control for on and off makes it look cheap
Summary: good pair of headphones, long cord (thats good for some not for others), overall a good product. the ear cover lets some noise sneak through not a perfect fit. Plastic seems kinda flimsy but it is not bad since it is foldable and that seems to keep its structure pretty strong

Strengths: good product for the price
Weaknesses: no volum control
Summary: 2005-12-21 20:54:41 I like the headphone very much, very comfortable around the ear. It needs two AAA battery to work so the the battery department is kind of big. But my complain is no volume control with it.
