Wow! Bad and Good together in one package
Strengths: Portable, easy to use, can set the pressure you want and it stops when it gets there.
Weaknesses: Comes with no battery or charger which double the price, broke my first one very easily, automatic setting does not always work.
Summary: I bought this inflator from the Home Depot and spent $60. When you finally read the box you find out, it doesn't come with a battery or a charger. I decided to get see how much the battery was, $25. Not to bad for a battery, but I realized that the battery doesn't come with the charger either. So I look around and find the charger for another $20. That brings the grand total to $105 for something that I am going to use to inflate my car tires.
Well, like most people, I was sick of paying 75 cents at the gas station every time my tire was low and I was tired of using a compressor that got power from inside my car and took 5 minutes to put 3 pounds of pressure in one tire. But, unlike most people I was willing to spend $105 to not have to put up with it. I figure after 140 trips to the gas station, it pays for itself.
I used it for the first time, after unwrapping everything from the waste of cardboard and plastic they packaged everything in and after charging the battery, and I noticed that the tire nozzle was really hard to put on without feeling like I was going to break my tire valve stem. Later I figured out that this nozzle doesn't have to go on very far to work properly, but before I discovered this I broke the first nozzle pin on the inflator.
I have also had trouble figuring out how to appropriately use the automatic shutoff. I inflate my tires to 32 psi, but if my tires are more than 30 psi when I start the inflator, it shuts off almost immediately. Its like the first burst of air makes the auto shutoff think that it is already over 32 psi. I will have to experiment more with this to figure it out.
One good story though. My brother was visiting and he just git new tires for his car but one was leaking air. By the time he got to my house, his one tire was already down to 7 psi. It was raining like crazy and I didn't feel like standing outside for too long so I grabbed the inflator, hooked it up to his tire, set the pressure to 35 psi and started it up. 3 minutes later, the auto shut off kicked in and the job was done. I was very pleased with the speed of the inflation that got me in out of the rain before I caught a cold.
To summarize, this is not a product for everyone, but if you are crazy about making sure that your tires are always at the correct pressure (for gas mileage, performance, and safety) then this would be a good product for you.
