Strengths: Runs Windows, Mac os X and more. Top of the line hardware and design.
Weaknesses: Battery life... For a Mac, under 3.5h is bad. I guess that's the price you pay for performance.
Summary: I am very happy with my MBP. One of the reasons I decided on this laptop was it's dual boot capabilities. But I now use mostly OS X run Windows via Parallels. Overall very solid performance. No heat issues, very quiet.

I'd like to address the previous comments on pricing.

I just searched on Pricegrabber for "T7600" (Intel 2.33MHz Core 2 Duo) and only a handful of machine came up. If you filter down with 256megs of dedicated graphic memory and 2 gigs of ram (standard on the MBP). You are left with machines well over $2499. The MBP offers workstation power with the form factor of a Thin & Light laptop.

Since the switch to Intel, Apple's prices are in line if not lower than the competition. I was looking at Dell's M65 mobile workstations and aside from being about $1000 more expensive than the 15.4" MBP for similar hardware, they come with a VGA out. In this day and age any laptop over $2000 should come with DVI out, IMHO. In the "PeeCee" world mostly 17", 9Lbs monsters come with DVI out.

So. I recommend you get a feel for the OS and hardware integration at your local Mac retailer or Apple Store.

Strengths: Wow! Impressive simplicity and performance straight out of the box.
Weaknesses: Limited desktop/icon customization without 3rd party software.
Summary: As a long-time user of Windows machines, I decided to switch to an Intel Mac since I can now run Windows on it. Well, I've never loaded Windows, and I don't know that I ever will. I am more than satisifed with the software suite included with the Mac OS X, and there is a plethora of freeware and shareware to take care of nearly any task! I would happily buy it again.

Strengths: design, speed, ability to run programs, everything in general
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: I bought the MBP three days ago. Since then, I have been discovering every new thing this machine has to offer, and I am veru happy for switching to Macs. Had Dell for a long time and don't regret switching. This laptop makes your work so easy that I don't think I will load Windows on it. Easy to run applications, just need to get used to new system. Have been reading a lot before buying it and again, Happy to have switched!!!

Strengths: Fast, Has everything, Stylish, Solid build, reasonable price compare with same specific PC laptop.
Weaknesses: none, maybe could have bigger Harddrive
Summary: I got my new macbook pro for 2 weeks now. I am in love with it. I am a multimedia designer, so I need a powerful machine, yet I don't want to be tied with a desktop. So macbook pro has everything I wanted as a work machine and personal computer. For 2400, I got 2.33 Duo 2 Core, and x1600 video card, 120G HD(a little small , but I got big external HD), and a lot of accessories, like bluetooth, webcam, expresscard slot, wireless, speaker and built in mic. Basiclly, I have everything I need, except the software. Oh! You acctually got all the software you need for your life! (not for professional designing though). The mac comes with iLife and Mail, Widget, dvd player, etc.... iLife is great, I like iPhoto - great way to manage your photos, iDVD - very easy to make good looking DVDs. iTunes - don't need to say much about this, iMovie is good too, although I am professional using Final Cut Pro. ;) oh, I like the address book and iCal too! Photobooth is very cool.

I've been thinking of buying a mac for a long time. I used it at school, but it is different than acctually owning one. Now, I am a happy mac owner. I think apple's software and OS system are better than PC's windows, in terms of enjoying your digital life, and of course, they are the graphics and video industry standard too.

last thing to mention, since mac switched to intel cpu, now you can boot both mac os and windows. But I didn't install bootcamp, since I feel I can do everything in mac osx, no need for windwos anymore, but I installed paralles, a great way to run windows inside mac osx, when very little time I needed too. :)

Strengths: Ability to run Windows and OSX, lighted keyboard, two finger scroll on trackpad, Apple design, integrated camera, loaded and ready to go out of the box.
Weaknesses: Price, battery life, oh and price.
Summary: I have fought for years against owning a laptop, but finally gave in out of necessity. The MacBook Pro is a wonderful machine and is pretty easy to use. There are many great things about the machine and I have listed the pros and cons already. First thing I did was to connect a mouse to the laptop because I hate using the trackpad. Even though Apple has integrated a great feature to help in useability (using two fingers instead of one controls your scroll bars in application windows and browser windows), I still prefer the mouse. Battery life seems to go extremely quick, but since this is my first laptop I have nothing to compare. I have both Windows and OSX installed and running via BootCamp. Installation was pretty straightforward with only a few minor glitches after installation (the clock in OSX got thrown out of whack). Speed-wise, I can't make an accurate side by side since 95% of the applications I work with are not Universal yet so they are running in Rosetta. The one application that I do use that is Universal (Cinema 4d) was tested against my G5 dual 2.7 GHz desktop. Although the gap wasn't that large, the MacBook pro was faster in render time (12:00m vs 12:30m on the G5) but my G5 is almost a year and a half old.

The main issue I have with the MacBook Pro is the price. Although I am a loyal Apple user price has always been an issue. Priced higher than comparably equipped PCs my total bill for the MacBook was higher than expected once I figured in AppleCare, Windows XP, notebook lock and a few accessories.

Bottom line...I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid machine.

Strengths: Design, weight, perfomance
Weaknesses: price could be a little lower but you get what you pay for right
Summary: This is my first mac. I bought the version with 2gb ram and 2.33ghz processor. It is fast and thin. I really like the feel of the keyboard and the attention to detail that mac uses. Its definitly a lot nicer than any pc I have owned. I would definitly buy it again. A++++

Strengths: Cool design; well-built body; fast performance, intuitive OS.
Weaknesses: Pricy
Summary: 2007-03-15 11:24:19 This notebook is a must-have for graphic amateur. The design of hot air vent on this machine is very impressive. It took me a month to find it out. The touchpad is convenient to use.

Other things I'd like to point out:

1) This MBP is quite and cool.

2) Speakers are crisp but max volume is low.

3) integrated iSight works fine, but the result is poor under low-light conditions.

Highly recommended to all who is tired of Windows OS. Mac OS X win out by a mile.

Strengths: Better protection against viruses than PC's. User frendly.
Weaknesses: Not much.
Summary: Great product to purchase for those individuals who are into graphic design, photography, television, music and film. well built for performance and speed. Great for wireless internet and video conferencing. Many businesses are leaning towards the use of Apple computers. It is great investment to own one.
