Strengths: Very Nice Screen, Brighter Keyboard illumination, iSight, Much faster than the powerbook, OPTION of running windows (options are always nice),
better battery life than the powerbook
Weaknesses: no modem... not that I used one but I still feel like I wish it was there
no svideo... I do miss this feature as I did used to use it
noisier fans than powerbook
Summary: I had my Powerbook G4 for 2 years, and loved it the entire time, had a bit of a glitch with the screen right before my complimentary 1yr of applecare expired, took it to an apple certified repair shop and it was fix and good as new within 2 days. (a real success story, amongst all that apple care horror stories). I held out on getting a new Macbook Pro when they first came out in hopes of a second generation that included a proper DVD burner and some of the other features I'd been wishing for in the first generation. This machine is fantastic, every bit the mac that the Power PC Powerbook G4 was and more. I could go into detail about the specs and this, that and the other thing, but really you can get those comparisons anywhere, so this is just my straight and honest opinion. I have the 2.16GHz model and to be honest I've used the ''faster'' one and couldn't tell you the difference... generally I would say to save your money unless you really feel the need to go for the few extras you get on the more expensive 15.4" model.

Strengths: Top notch design. Fast. Great keyboard. Matte display is perfect. Solid aluminum casing.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: I am very satisfied with the Macbook pro with the 15.4" matte display. Setting up MAC OS X Tiger was a breeze and I transferred my personal data from my iBook G4 without any trouble connecting it to the Macbook Pro via a firewire cable. Everything is running very smoothly.
Apple has also fixed the over-heating problem. My Macbook Pro stayed fairly cool and when lots of tasks were performed it heated up only to a slight degree. But just make sure you raise the back of the notebook up a little so air could get through. Get one of those gadgets like Dr Bodelin's laptop bumpers.
I am very happy with my purchase.

Strengths: Awesome power in a sleek and sexy package, Mac OS X and ability to run Windows or linux, Backlit keyboard, innovative mouse pad, gorgeous screen, wireless n and BT 2.0, apple remote
Weaknesses: Wish the battery lasted a little longer (4 hrs typical now), would have loved higher resolution screen but cannot complain at the present one either, glossy screen attracts finger prints
Summary: This is my first mac.. have long been a lurker at the mac store, but when the macbook pro got revised (in last october), I could wait no more. So far, I am loving the power, design and sweet Mac OS X.
Have installed xp with parallels and Vista with bootcamp. No problems using windows on it... got a 4.6 lowest score in vista.
If you are the one like me who wants the best in technology (practically) this is the way to go. I know the average PC laptop in the market costs less but if you were to configure it with same specs, trust me that wouldn't work out much cheaper.. go experience on at your nearset mac store... btw, I can't call myself a mac fanboy, as I have owned this only 6 months and Windows is still my primary OS as I work as a Computer Programmer and need windows (and unix) for work. Did I mention mac os is unix based too ;)
loving my first mac.. waiting for leopard, but 'am more than impressed with tiger.
pal :)

Strengths: Light, strong, high-performance
Weaknesses: Weaknesses? What weaknesses?
Summary: It's an Apple product, so I don't need to remind you of how elegant the MacBook Pro is. Really, it doesn't get much better than this. The MacBook Pro is high-performing, state-of-the-art function wrapped in the sweetest skin one can imagine. The Duo Core chip insures cross-platform (Mac/Windows) reliability at blazing processor speeds. Couple the performance with the simplicity of the Mac OS and that's it -- there isn't a need to say anything more. Want the tech specs? Go to Apple or check third-party reviews. What the laptop? Then BUY IT!

Strengths: Good size screen. Nice camera. Garage band. Good speed.
Weaknesses: None noted yet.
Summary: This notebook is solid, comfortable keypad and big enough screen to have multiple documents open simultaneously. Battery life is at least 5 hours of active use. It powers up and processes quickly. No complaints or problems.

Strengths: Elegant design, choice between glossy or matte display, illuminated keyboard, very nice feature set
Weaknesses: Power adapter is a bit too large, only 2 USB ports
Summary: I've owned a number of laptops over the years (pc & mac), and yet this model is the definite favorite. The hardware itself is a work of art and the operating system makes office work a pleasure. With this new edition (2.16GHz, 120GB HD, 1GB RAM) you get more for your money than ever before. A faster processor, more RAM and hard drive standard, and now the inclusion of a FireWire 800 port.
The MacBook pro (15 & 17") models have several very nice features...the choice of a glossy or matte display (no additional cost-I'd go glossy), ambient light sensors for automatic adjustment of keyboard and screen brightness and a very attractive aluminum casing. Add to this other standard mac features (included remote/ Front Row, built in iSight camera, unique touch-pad and MagSafe power adapter) and you have one awesome machine.
For me, this 15" model is the perfect feature set. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

Strengths: big screen (feels bigger than normal 15"), very bright and clear TFT LCD. MacOSX loaded with the latest update version. Most of the time it is very quiet and work smoothly with everything.
Weaknesses: 1. I do feel that the bottom of the screen has a bar a little bit lighter than the whole screen, but overall, it doesn't bother me that much.
2. The power cord isn't long enough for me.
Summary: Overall, this is a great product. Remember to full charge your battery before you start using it regularly (fully discharge it, wait 4-5 hours and then fully charge it). I also had a little hard time to config the wifi but I finally managed to get it done. The glossy screen is super nice. Backlight illuminated keyboard is just so cool. I program a lot during the night, so that is a MUST for me.

Strengths: fast operation, expandability, runs very quiet and cool
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: After hearing horror stories about the Core Duo machines, none of those issues seem to exist at all on the Core 2 Duo machine I have. I guess it pays to wait for a revision of brand new machines, and the wait certainly was worth it. I run Digital Performer which runs flawlessly and quick, and the fast processor has allowed me to expand the amount of tracks and effects I use simultaneously. (I did upgrade to 2GB of RAM)
The computer does get warm, but that's it. Just warm, not hot. The battery life has been decent so far and the light sensing, light-up keyboard is pretty cool.
I plan to add some eSata drives in the future which should be no problem with the ExpressCard/34 slot to add an adaptor card.
This is my first Mac in a very long time, and I could not be happier.

Strengths: Sleek design, very fast, very fun to use.
Weaknesses: I'm really afraid of getting this thing scratched! I feel like I'm carrying around an infant when I use this thing.
Summary: This is an awesome laptop. It is definitely an upgrade from the Compaq Evo N610c I was using before this, and I have to say, this thing is FAST. And it looks really cool. The built-in camera makes for a really simple chat experience, and it is completely unobtrusive. As a college student, I feel that this thing is just the perfect weight to be bringing to and from classes at around 5 lbs. This is a great laptop!

Strengths: graphics, sassy looks, nice icons, long battery life, fast booting
Weaknesses: The delete button can only back space to delete. Need to click twice on the web address space to type over. Easy to slip off the up-down arrow on the right side.
Summary: For someone who never owned a mac before, it is a refreshing change from PC with its cool features like the camera that can do many distortion tricks, or the sassy graphic movement when a window is minimized.

BEWARE
Strengths: Beautiful design. Luxurious interface. Great customer service.
Weaknesses: wi-fi reception. TERRIBLE optical drive. System wide glitches.
Summary: I am now returning my 2nd Macbook Pro C2D. This time for a full refund---all within one month. Each on I upgaded to a 160 Gig HD.
Both had optical drives that sounded like a mooing lawnmower---the whole chassis vibrated ridiculously---especially during burns. The 2nd one had a loose piece inside that would clank around. The hard drive on the 2nd sounded like a primitive compaq desktop. No joke. Additionally, there have been system wide glitches for both---sticky trackpad in iPhoto, numerous force quits for single window uses on various native programs, insufficient speed for the state of the art hardware.
APPLE NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE A RUN OF LEMONS HERE.
This is a real bummer.

Weaknesses: PRICE
Summary: Give me this laptop with the 3 year applecare protection plan included with the price, and I will buy immediately!!!! Not a minute delay!!!
Otherwise the price is just too high.

Strengths: widescreen, light, speaker location (on top of the keyboard), magnetic power cord connection, fast at restarting, long battery life, built in area to rest wrists, good screen resolution, quiet
Weaknesses: The only thing that I do not like about this laptop is that the screen does not fold back as far as other laptops I have used
Summary: I am very pleased with this purchase. I have always been a PC user, but due to my ipod and iphone, I decided that it was time I switched over to a mac. While a mac might not be the processing powerhouse that a PC can be, it is the ideal home computing appliance. It has a wonderful design, feels good under your fingers when you are typing, looks good sitting in your living room. It comes loaded with all the useful software tools that a typical consumer needs in a home computer. Familiarizing myself with the mac OS has been a breeze, very easy to learn, just a great user interface. I highly recommend a macbook pro for anyone in the market for a fully loaded home laptop.

Strengths: nice design, doesn't get hot, fast processing speed, very slim and light weight
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This is my first experience with Mac and it's way better than anything i have used before, it is just a pleasure to work on this computer. The bluetooth sync works very simple and the software it comes with is made very well to work together for example after making a video on iMovie you can directly export it to your iTunes library or to any blog page to your website using iWeb and than you can easily import media to iWeb from iPhoto and iTunes ... every piece of this machine form the hardware to the software works perfectly together! It is 100% worth having it!
