Strengths: Small enough to carry in pocket. Great design. Works perfect and the software locates almost appropriate location of shoot.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: 2007-09-19 19:22:13 This is a great experience to have your photographs placed geographically as per the location of shoot.

Over the years you would remember the places you have been to and had fun.

I found AA rechargeable as an advantage when I went for 18days vacation. I carried 4 rechargeable with me and one works for the whole day, so could pass 4 days. Otherwise I would have to charge it everyday.

Must have gadget!!

One of the reviews here say that it should face the satellite. But I did not care, I just put it on my jeans buckle and it always shows correct location on the photos.

    7 Days
Strengths: small, light, unobtrusive, requires only one AA battery
Weaknesses: no display at all, only a couple of lights; can lose signal inside buildings
Summary: The Sony GPS CS1 does what is advertised to do: it provides a GPS log (every 15 seconds) which can be matched to your photos (through the time the photo was taken) to provide pretty accurate information on the location the photo was taken. It becomes important to syncronize the GPS time (gotten by the unit when it acquires the GSP satellite signal) and the camera time. I find that it is sufficiently accurate to carefully set the camera time before going on a trip by using (in my case) either my TIVO clock or an atomic clock I have that also records indoor and outdoor temperatures. I figure that the camera time will only drift a couple of seconds during the trip which is sufficiently accurate for setting the photo location. Software is included to help match the Sony GPS and camera information. This appears to be the only unit of its type on the market at this time and I recommend it for serious travelers who take a lot of photos during their trips.

Strengths: Solid material and compact size. Use AA battery
Weaknesses: Need the other software (comes with SONY Digital Camera) to have the whole function The attached carabiner is useless
Summary: I bought this GPS before my last trip to Key West. Outside of the box only indicated that this unit will only work with some SONY DC model. However, I found out it works fine with all my DC (Canon SD 450 and Olympus Stylus 700) as long as the DC supports EXIF 2.1 of above. The software comes with the unit is pretty easy for use and you can easily connect your photo and Google local map easily. However, some of the software requires SONY DC software before you install. I really think they should have the full software support even to non-SONY user.

    Product Experience:
    4 Weeks
Strengths: Small size, easy to use, works with most digital cameras(not just Sony), uses only 1 AA battery
Weaknesses: Must be facing in the correct direction to lock on to the satellites
Summary: If you want to track the locations of where all your digital photographs were taken, this device is great. Just take it with you wherever you are shooting photographs and then when you get to your computer, just connect it via the USB cable and the included software matches up the time the photos were taken with the location and time in the device's log file. The GPS location data is then imported into the EXIF data of your digital photo files. You can import your photos (using Picasa) into Google Earth (both of these software programs can be downloaded free from www.google.com) and view your photos on the map. It works really slick!
