Strengths: small, light, unobtrusive, requires only one AA battery
Weaknesses: no display at all, only a couple of lights; can lose signal inside buildings
Summary: The Sony GPS CS1 does what is advertised to do: it provides a GPS log (every 15 seconds) which can be matched to your photos (through the time the photo was taken) to provide pretty accurate information on the location the photo was taken. It becomes important to syncronize the GPS time (gotten by the unit when it acquires the GSP satellite signal) and the camera time. I find that it is sufficiently accurate to carefully set the camera time before going on a trip by using (in my case) either my TIVO clock or an atomic clock I have that also records indoor and outdoor temperatures. I figure that the camera time will only drift a couple of seconds during the trip which is sufficiently accurate for setting the photo location. Software is included to help match the Sony GPS and camera information. This appears to be the only unit of its type on the market at this time and I recommend it for serious travelers who take a lot of photos during their trips.
