Strengths: Hd Picture is very good. Price blows away all other quality 32" lcd's. Component picture is also very good. Dvds are great!
Weaknesses: Not enough HDMI and Component inputs for my liking. SD is pretty good, but maybe I am bias because I am constantly flipping back to compare the two!
Summary: There is not, in my humble opinion, a better 32" lcd tv anywhere in the market at this great price. I constantly compare the "top" tvs to the Olevia at 2-3 times the cost and am always convinced I got the best buy around. The brick and mortar stores are gouging people for similar quality tvs. The Toshiba's, Sony's and Sharp's do have better pictures but you will pay for the negligible difference.Even LG's and Akai are at least twice as much and are supposed to bargain brands. What a joke. Syntax-Brillian has a great product and I am very happy.

Strengths: Easy Setup, Good Build Quality, Great Picture for the Price
Weaknesses: Cheap Remote, VGA has Tearing Issues, Volume is high even on lowest setting
Summary: I have a 60" Samsung DLP in the living room and was looking for a LCD for the bedroom. I did some research and saw that the Olevia 332H had pretty much good reviews across the board. I didn't need a tuner because I have a HD DVR Box and the price was compelling so I decided to purchase this from an online retailer. When I got it in I quickly hooked it up to my HD DVR Box via HDMI and turned to ESPNHD, the picture quality was good & the colors were a bit washed out of the box. But after some calibrating the colors became very vivid & was even better than my DLP. The Discovery HD channels and Sunrise Earth is simply stunning. Next, I hooked it up to my Xbox360 via component cable and launched Gears of War. Again a bit washed out colors but after calibrating the colors were very vivid & there was no ghosting. Happy once again with the Picture. Last, I hooked up my HTPC (Home Theatre PC) via VGA cable and the colors were washed out (you cant change color settings under VGA for some reason) but they became vivid once I put up the Digital Vibrance in the Nvidia Control Panel. Note that for PC Usage, you should change the TV aspect ratio to 1:1 (on the remote aspect button) and change TV output resolution from video card to 1360x768. I watched a HDTV show converted to Xvid and it was good picture quality however I noticed tearing. The tearing was intermittent & somewhat of an annoyance but I'm used to it now... just a fair warning for people. I tried playing Counter-Strike: Source & it looked fantastic, for some reason there was no tearing within the video game. Overall, I would say the Picture Quality is very Good for the price you pay. There are some caveats in that the volume of the TV is loud even at the lowest setting, the remote control is pretty cheap & there's slight lag in the menus. Also I would've liked to see more inputs (additional component & HDMI) but other then that I say this TV was a very good purchase & I am happy.
(Note Camera Pictures are from 2.0 megapixel camera phone, so don't expect high quality from these pics).

Strengths: Great picture, especially for the low price. One year warranty including onsite service.
Weaknesses: Weak built in speakers, lack of inputs, incompatible with most universal remotes, occasional backlighting issue
Summary: 2007-03-09 19:36:35 It's hard to go wrong with this monitor/TV provided you get it within the $450-550 range. I don't consider the "tunerless" nature of the 332H to be a "weakness" because it's clearly advertised as such. As long as you're using something along the lines of an HD cable box or you're just using it to watch movies on your DVD player, this TV is worth the monitor. The picture is sharper than most comparable TVs that I see at the local BestBuy. The only negatives I have for it are the weak speakers (which I expected). Definitely get a sound system to go along with this. It could use an input or two more. Being restrained to one HDMI and one component is a little frustrating, especially since I like to have my Playstation 2 and my DVD player hooked up to it at the same time. Also, you'll find that most universal remotes will not work with it. The people at Comcast suggested that, because the Olevia is so new, they'll probably have codes for it in the future but, for now, the only way you'll be able to control everything with one remote is if you get something like the Logitech Harmony remotes which run anywhere from $100-300. Finally, I've had an occasional problem with the backlight not turning on immediately. When this happens, I turn it off and turn it back on and there's no problem. If this ends up being reoccurring, I'll definitely get a replacement but, since there is a one year/on site warranty, I'm not worried.

Strengths: Has great side viewing angle
Speakers are below the screen so its not as wide as other
monitors i've looked at.
Feature rich menu
Outstanding picture quality
Great Monitor/TV for the price
Weaknesses: Does not have a built in tuner. For some this might be a problem but I don't need a tuner as i'll be running this through an HTPC setup using a ATI HDTV tuner card.
Summary: I've been watching the HDTV market for a while. The prices have finally started to drop down within reason. I was happy to find this TV on sale with coupons for about $500 and decided now was the time to get in the game. I've yet to watch any OTA HD channels but so far this TV has a great analog picture and very feature rich menu. I'm not at all disappointed in the product. It has everything I was looking for in an HDTV at a very reasonable price.

Strengths: Good HD picture, black level, contrast ratio
Weaknesses: No ATSC, NTSC tuners, Standard definition picture ok
Summary: I've been looking for a reasonably priced 32" LCD - I wanted to pay about $550. I first purchased an emprex 32", but it had dead pixels and a horrible contrast ratio. This TV was $50 more at target and had double the contrast ratio. I set it up with HD content off my laptop (native 1366 resolution video card mode) and have to say it doesn't have too bad a picture after changing some settings. Out of the box the picture was washed out and a bit blurry. I turned up the contrast, sharpness and color saturation to get a reasonable picture. The HD content (1080i and 720p) looked good with hints of the 3d effect that good HDTVs can give (much better than the emprex). That said, it doesn't have the contrast or color saturation that my 40" samsung lcd has, but it cost 1/4 the price! I don't see any ghosting (due to the 8ms response time) and very little false contouring. The adjustable backlight allows you to get reasonable black levels in a dark room. Sound is a little tinny, but has a good surround effect. No dead pixels! I believe it is a good value at $550 compared to the 32" samsung at nearly twice the price and the other no-name brands (like emprex) for about the same price. One quick message about buying it from Target...if you don't like it, they make you pay for shipping back and a 15% restocking fee!! Make sure you buy it (or any other TV) with a credit card (like amex) that doubles the manufacturers' warranty - just in case dead pixels arise in the future.

Strengths: Price
Weaknesses: None really
Summary: Unit performs very well, especially for the price. Do note that this particular model does NOT have a tuner, however with everyone using cable boxes and HD cable boxes, that hardly matters at all unless you REALLY want to use it stand alone. I see no real negatives for this unit thus far (3 weeks), however it seems on a completely black or grey screen, the black seems a bit nonuniform for some reason. This never happens when watching tv or video, only on a uniform black blank screen - not even if the screen is black with text (which looks fine).

Strengths: I was surprised by how nice and crisp the picture quality is. It's got a 1600:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time. I got a great deal on this TV so it was definitely worth the price.
Weaknesses: Doesn't have a tuner so you need to supply one to watch HD content.
Summary: Not having a tuner isn't that big a deal if you are going to be renting a box from the cable company to get HD which is what most people do. I have this TV hooked up to my HTPC using Windows XP MCE and it looks as good as my Dell monitor. I love it!

Strengths: Doesn't use buggy ATI Xilleon chipset
High contrast ratio
Price
Lots of inputs
Upgradable firmware
Weaknesses: Lack of tuner
Summary: To be fair, this unit is marketed as a HD monitor. Out of all the LCD "TVs" available around the Black Friday period, this one stood out as one of the best. No need to wait inline for either an inferior product (the one at Home Depot) or flawed product (anything using the ATI Xilleon chipset).
VGA input and even the HDMI input works well, has lots of inputs (composite, component, S-vid). For the ~$500 shipped I got it for, what else do you want? (other than maybe an extra diagonal 5" :) )

Strengths: Product is great. The picture is perfect and the hdmi connection makes a big difference. the colors are fantasic and refresh rate is automatic
Weaknesses: the stand it comes on is tilted down a little and it would of been nice to of had 2 pairs of component connectors
Summary: I personnally would recommend this item. I am thinking of purchasing another Olevia with a tuner in a larger screen. I must admint I was concerned about purchasing a product from a manufacturer that i have never heard of but it was a great move. I am now researching what type on hd tv I want for a larger area. The LCD is great but I need a larger one. I also would of liked a better manual with the set. My Direct TV box does not support this monitor and I need to know how to program the remote correctly for direct TV. I am awaiting a response from Ovevia. I hope this helps everyone

Strengths: Great Price, Great Picture
Weaknesses: Lack of Tuner, Only One Component Input
Summary: I bought this TV because I didn't want to spend too much (around $500). The specs looked good: 8ms response time, 1600:1 contrast ratio & the price was too good to pass up. I didn't need a tuner because I already have a Comcast HD DVR box, so I hooked up via HDMI & the picture is great. I had to tweak it a little bit (contrast, brightness, tint, sharpness, noise reduction) but after doing so the picture rivaled my friends Sony Bravia LCD (that he paid much more for). The Picture is very vivid & rivals more expensive TV's. Standard TV channels look decent, but it's more to do with the ultra low resolution of standard broadcasting than the TV. Hooking it up to a computer via RGB & setting the computer secondary display resolution to 1360x768 and enabling 1:1 mode on the TV (aspect ratio on the remote button) made it look good. Playing Videogames in widescreen such as Counter-Strike: Source is very clear & no ghosting at all. You can also watch Divx/Xvid/WMV content from your computer, better if you have files that were captured from HD. But if you tweak with the video codec settings, it makes it look even better (play around with it enough & it can almost rival HD broadcast). I wanted to hook up both my upscaling DVD & Xbox360 to the TV via component but it only has one component input. Upscaling DVD's look great, Xbox360 looks even better. Xbox360 games come out clear with vivid colors, no ghosting. The sound on this TV is very clear & reproduces a imitation surround sound pretty well with just two speakers. However, even at the lowest volume setting it's pretty loud so that's one caveat. Overall, I would say this TV is great but could have additional items such as more video inputs & a tuner. But for the price this can't be beat. I highly recommend this TV.

Great Image But Questionable Reliability
Strengths: I did a lot of research before I purchased this TV. It was the right combination of performance and design so when the price dropped on target I did not hesititate to order it.
Weaknesses: Less than 5 days of taking delivery of the TV, it broke. You turn on the TV, the screen shows up for 2 seconds and then it powers down on it's own. The standby light flickers on and off, with the TV
Summary: 2006-12-10 17:19:37 1. You can't return this TV or any other TV 27" in local store.
2. Buy from a brick and mortar store so you can return it if you want.
3. This TV has a known issue with the board on some units, get an extended warranty and save yourself some grief.

Strengths: Great picture, even better price.
Weaknesses: No tuner, only 1 component input.
Summary: So far this TV has exceeded any expectations. Even though it has no tuner the cable is hooked up through a VCR and the composite input (this is a second HDTV without a second cable box). As a computer monitor it also is fantastic using DVI to HDMI connection with my video card. Overall, I would definitely reommend this TV to anyone looking for a great value LCD!

Olevia 32
Strengths: Tv has a gorgeous picture out of the box even without High Definition on. Picture clarity is exceptional.
Sound quality is OK.Price was the reason we bought this model, only $479.00 at Tigerdirect.com
Weaknesses: No tuner so cannot be used as a standalone unit. Biggest problem is trying to figure out the remote and how to change settings, way to complicated!Only 1 HDMI hookup, should have 2.
Summary: If I was to purchase this item again, I would definitely get tuner model.
Otherwise, we are very happy with this TV so far. No problems except for figuring out the remote.

Strengths: very good quality. LCD Monitor is bright and has good controls. The speakers are below the screen so saving you space at the sides and can be placed in a entertainment center easily.
Weaknesses: Lack of tuner , but then thats what you are buying ! Shared S-video and Composite input. Would have been nice to have them separate.
Summary: I got this TV/monitor last month and it's performance is very good. I have connected it to my PC and also DVD player . It has very good picture quality and good speakers . It has the speakers below the screen which helps in fitting it in the entertainment center. Its excellent buy for the price . It lacks TV tuner , but then you can hook it though a DVD player or VCR that has TV tuner built in.
