3 Star ReviewSimple Arcade Racing
Strengths: free roaming cities with multiple paths, satisfying racing
Weaknesses: mostly point to point racing, multiple paths leads to staring at the hub/map
Summary: Midnight Club 3 continues the series by offerin 3 big cities to race in - San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit . There's a lot of detail in the cities and you can customize the cars adding rims, etc. But the overall graphics isn't very impressive. The night scenes aren't dramatic enough and the cars lack that shine.

The racing modes are simple but the actual racing is pretty fun. The AI isn't too hard and they'll make mistakes. There's also enough shortcuts and different paths that it's easy to catch up should you fall behind.

The real difficulty is the course designs. Because the races don't take place in closed laps/circuits you can get lost in the streets and alleyways in each city. In this way the game forces you to keep a close eye on the onscreen map, which is too bad since a racing game should have you reacting to the actual course.
