Strengths: So far so good, no problems. Burned CD-R and DVD+R without a hitch. using patchburn, Itunes found the drive as well did Toast.
Weaknesses: None so far, but it's early. Just put it in today.
Summary: Had to remove the Drive tray cover so the drive would slide out of the little slot for the G5. Also took the elevator stays from the old drive and put them on the new one and had no problem even though apple recommends not doing this. No other company ships with those things do they? The stays elevate the DVD drive so it doesn't sit on the metal
The sony drive wasn't bad, but it went into my Desktop G4, which the Plextor PX-708A drive laser died. Would make coaster CDs......:(.
Figure the faster, newer, DVD burner should go into the newer machine. :)
