Strengths: small, good range, different call tones, low battery alert
Weaknesses: none, that we have found so far
Summary: I bought these Motorola radios to take on an upcoming vacation that is in an area with no cell phone service. I figured it would be perfect for us to keep in contact with the kids. Upon trying them out, I think these will do the job perfectly. The range is AT LEAST the stated 3 miles and the voices come through loud and clear. So far I am very happy with this purchase, especially since I got them at a great sale price ($14.99 for the set of two)!

Strengths: Great compact size, stylish appearance, functions as promised.
Weaknesses: There are obviously much more powerful radios out there, some of which aren't much more expensive.
Summary: I purchased these radios for occasional use when offroading with a local club. Since you are hardly ever more than 1/4 mile away from anyone in your group, the range of these radios is more than adequate, and I think Motorola puts a lot of quality into them.

If you don't need 8 mile range, I'd recommend this radio.

Strengths: Ease-of-use, compact size
Weaknesses: Range may not suit all purposes
Summary: I purchased these radios for use while hiking as a means of staying in contact when out of visual sight of a hiking companion. They are lightweight, easy-to-use and have plenty of channels to choose from to avoid interference with others. Even at the maximum range of 3 miles, they provide clear, reliable communications at a great price. I am very pleased with the T4900 and recommend them highly.

Strengths: Price. Cheap and good brand
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: To be honest, do not expect too much for US$ 26 radio. It is a good deal and a really good radio but functions are limited. So if you think that 3 miles is enough and have batteries rechargable (be sure to buy it too) so it is gonna fit perfectly.

Strengths: small, light, uses AA batteries
Weaknesses: 3-mile (maximum) radius, requires 3AA batteries per unit
Summary: 2005-08-22 17:32:16 Small, light and solidly-built. Can't expect too much range from $15 units though. Works well for my purpose of keeping in touch within the same building. However, it requires 3AA batteries per radio which not only adds to the weight but is pretty costly in the long run.

Strengths: Lighweight, good range, clear reception, easy to use.
Weaknesses: Limit of 3 miles which is understood as per product specs.
Summary: 2005-04-27 17:40:00 The T4900 is a well-designed, cost-effective two-way radio. The affordable price made it easier for me to acquire 4 units for family use. The radios are easy to use, lightweight, and have great features that you wouldn't expect at this price.
