Strengths: The Harmony 688 was very easy to set up. It controls all of my A/V equipment, and has easy to read menus. It works 100 times better than the original remote for my TiVo.
Weaknesses: I have not figured out how to control the multiple disc DVD player that I own. I can start playing a DVD, but am having difficulty toggling between other DVDs. It is going to take more time.
Summary: I am extremely satisfied with my recent purchase of the HArmony 688 remote. I had four remotes that i was using to control all of my A/V equipment, and most of the remotes were cumbersome and did not have small conveinces like glow in the dark keys , much less a backlight. This is the coolest remote on the market. Set-up was so easy. The website where you go to set-up is user friendly, and it allows you to customize all of the functions. YOu can even rename any of the keys that control your equipment. I use my remote to control a widescreen tv, Direct TV with TiVo, a HDTV set top box receiver, and a Surround Sound receiver with a five disc DVD/CD changer combo (5 years old). This remote can pick-up any codes from any equipment that you might have. I would strongly recommend this remote to anyone that is interested in getting rid of multiple remotes to control thier A/V equipment. It easy to set-up and even easiler to use. My wife was up and running this remote without even going through the onlne tutorial. Too easy to use, you gotta get one!!

Strengths: Nice size & shape. User friendly web interface for programming. A single button press turns on all necessary equipment and configures inputs according to which activity has been selected.
Weaknesses: Some infared commands were not in the Harmony database, but I was able to "teach" the remote those commands easily. Need to know the model numbers of your components to easily setup.
Summary: This is absolutely the most user friendly, most customizable remote that I have ever owned. Because the programming interface is web-based, the list of supported devices is continually growing. No need to send this remote away to be upgraded when new devices become available. Almost every aspect of this remote may be customized to your preferences. You can even set what button presses turn on the backlight, and how long it stays on.

Strengths: All in one remote......
Weaknesses: Price pretty high $140's....More consumers would buy if cost would go down.
Summary: Remote is user friendly and it seems that anyone can use this remote with know problem. With one touch of a button you can turn on a movie or just watch TV without having your usual 3 remotes or more. I will enjoy this for years......

Strengths: It does operate all of the electronics I need. Once set up, it is very comprehensive in its control over all of your TV/VCR/DVD/Satellite/Cable/Tuner devices.
Weaknesses: EXTREMELY SMALL TYPE on the buttons. Couldn't use software on my laptop, had to use Desktop. This resulted in more sneaker networking, but it did work.
Summary: Does everything they say it can, but it won't work out of the room for the DISH network PVR, although it will work in the same room. Still, it reduced 6 remotes to 2, not shabby. Even worked on my DVD-Recorder and old JVC D-VHS. Can hardly read some buttons even under a magnifying glass, much less in a dark room. It is lighted, but the type on the WATCH TV/WATCH TAPE, etc. buttons are just too small. Setup takes a long time, but once you set it up, it works like a charm.

Strengths: Perfect for home theatre
Weaknesses: Numbers slightly small
Summary: Very helpful customer service, be ready with your products name & models numbers before getting the remote programmed, one of my best buys. Finally I only have to deal with only one remote. It's fun to operate.

Strengths: So easy to set up and use!
Weaknesses: Buttons a little small but great after you get used to them.
Summary: 2005-02-22 13:01:22 This is a wonderful remote! Now I don't have to try to figure out which of five remotes I need. Very easy for women to use too:) My husband was a little surprised that I bought it for him but I hated all the remotes. I guess it was a gift for both of us.

Strengths: Integrates all remotes and devices into easy to use functions
Weaknesses: Buttons feel cheap, you need to press hard to use them
Summary: 2005-01-24 15:40:15 This remote is awesome. You can control numerous devices with the push of a button, such as "Watch TV" or "Watch DVD". It is extremely easy to program via the harmony website. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to simplify the process of running a home theater system or for those who are technologically deficient.
