Strengths: price , size , weight , 1GB ram
Weaknesses: screen battery QA No Bluetooth basic intel on board video
Summary: With deals around $1100 no rebate , $1000 AR , it is the best deal for a core 2 duo 12 inch laptop.

it dosent have all the top components (no Bluetooth, no 1GB Ethernet, ), but have all the usual stuff (SDcard reader firewire Wifi , DVD burner, finger print scanner) and some old stuff (dial up modem)

battery shows 8% wear out of the box

Wash out colors for the so call trubrite screen

Worst speakers I have seen on laptop these days ,

get headset/speakers if u listen to anything called 'music' rather than some 'sound'

(IMO , I d rather drop the dial up modem to save space and get some decent speakers if not a better screen)

Strengths: Excellent value, Business level quality,Screen, Express Media Player
Weaknesses: Not as stylish as other laptop, Recovery DVD includes all the bloatware
Summary: I bought this computer for my sister who was in the market for a portable and sturdy laptop. After studying various brands and their options I decided that this one would suit her best.

We have owned several Toshiba laptops in the past and never had any problems with them. Since this one shared several components from its business level sister Tecra M6 this was on going to be quite durable.

Here are some of my grips:

- Keyboard layout is different from the other laptops, the INS & DEL keys are right next to the space bar? This is one of the compromises that you need to consider when buying a 12.1 laptop.

- Finger scanning system is okay, I have used much better systems on Sonys and IBMs.

- The screen cannot laydown completely flat.

- The mouse pad is tiny...but I quickly got use to it.

- Battery life is decent...not great.

- Recovery DVDs ... reinstall everything including the annoying AOL offers!

Here are the pros:

- Express Media Player - I am able to play DVDs or CDs without starting windows!

- The screen is very nice.

- Build quality is solid.

- Very compact, making it nice and portable.

How does it compare with the 700m?

- Its weighs about the same

- Screens are about equal quality

- When closed the Toshiba looks much better than 700m

- Toshiba has slightly more bells (USB ports) and whistles (5 in 1 media slot)

Overall, I really like this laptop and would suggest it to anyone who is in the market for a 4 lb or 12.1 laptop

Strengths: Light weight - Awesome screen and clarity - Huge hard drive (for a small laptop) - Microsoft OneNote (once you use it it will really become your One - Express Media player (plays DVD and CD without boot-up) - Touch and Launch TouhcPad
Weaknesses: it heats up, some basic Windows XP stuff runs a little slowly
Summary: It is small but not too small, and lightweight, and this fits both those criteria. The 12" screen is just right, and at 4 pounds, it's light enough to carry around in my backpack. Very nice keyboard with lots of extra features -- the touchpad is great.
