Weaknesses: 1. Remote is still brutal.
2. Usability is a nightmare, i.e. sometimes only the remotes eject button works, not the eject button on unit itself.
3. turning power off with switch on unit cause default settings to be wiped out.
4. output voltage was too
Summary: Only reason I bought this DVD player is because it has the non-HDCP DVI connection. The DVI picture is great, but so many other problems with this player compels me to warn people not to buy it.
Please, do yourself a favor and don't buy this product. And if this is a big improvement over the D1, then I'll extrapolate that to expect not much better from the D3. I've updated my firmware to most recent, and didn't improve anything noticeably.
