Strengths: Best selling NCAA franchise ! Now has a play-calling system.
Weaknesses: Well...if you prefer NBA over NCAA....this is not the choice for you. PLus...it uses up 7751KB on a PS2 memory card..(for perspective, Rumble Roses requires 90Kb, Ape Escape 2 Requires 300Kb)
Summary: This game is very realistic. I think it is just like the actual NCAA league! You can play in Dynasty mode and gain scholarships and whatnot...The Computer (AI) isn't so bad either, being just the right amount of defense/offense. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are actually in the game, having the stadium crowd cheering and jeering depending of course if you're winnning or not. The Online mode doesn't hurt, seeing that if you have a network adapter, you can use the internet to play other people around the nation (maybe even the world, but I'm not sure about that part). It also has support for multitap, so 1-8 players can play if multitap is used. Great game overall, i believe the best NCAA franchise yet.

Strengths: Fun gameplay, easy to learn, fairly addicting
Weaknesses: memory card space, newer versions are better
Summary: I picked this game up when I found it on sale cheap at a local store. To my surprise, it was actually a pretty good game. The gameplay was good with barely any glitches that I ran into. The different modes make playing interesting and fairly addicting if you play in dynasty mode. My only comlaints are the amount of space a save file takes up in your memory card (luckily I had an extra one laying around, but still...). Also, if you've played newer versions of NCAA basketball, you'll realize that they have definitely made improvements since this one came out.

In the end, if you don't have the money to spend on newer titles, then definitely pick this one up for cheap. It is a good game and can hold it's own. You'll have fun and enjoy it thoroughly.

Strengths: Touch more realism if you've been playing stuff like NBA Ballers, NBA Street, etc
Weaknesses: Can't compare to the EA football games for sheer depth and realism
Summary: This was marked down to less than $20 at a local chain toy store. At that price, it certainly didn't disappoint. Some learning curve (as with any sports game of some depth) but manageable if you've played any other contemporary basketball title. Graphics were occasionally jerky for me, but looked good, with great player animation. No major complaintsl

Strengths: Sound, Team Selection, Crowd response, Choose Defense/Offense on the fly
Weaknesses: Graphics, Animations/Control, AI
Summary: If you're an NCAA Basketball fan then this game should be second on your list to buy. The game is not bad it just doesn't match up with its competitor,College Hoops 2k5. Not much has changed since last years version of the EA title. There is a slight improvement in graphics, the crowd response to your team adds some effect and the on the fly mechanics to change your offense/defense received an upgrade. If you have to buy one NCAA basketball game go with the 2K game. Unless your a diehard EA fan this game should only be purchased if found at >$20

Strengths: Realistic “Arena Pulse” feature! You can actually see and feel the crowd around you stomping, great control.
Weaknesses: Graphics look OK, a save file that takes up most of the space on your memory card. Usual tricky EA Sports artificial intelligence.
Summary: NCAA March Madness 2005 kind of looks and plays like any EA Sports NBA Live game. One of the things that sets it apart from others is the “Arena Pulse” feature. Personally, I felt this feature was pretty cool since I’ve never played a PS2 sports game that actually implemented the rumble feature. You’ll be playing, and depending on the game situation, you’ll actually “feel” the crowd getting worked up over the playing field. The only problem I have with the game is the save file. If you don’t play a lot of games at once (who doesn’t?), or if you have an Action Replay that allows you to store your saves on a computer, then you should buy this game. It’s really fun to play with other people, too. All in all, it’s a solid basketball game for the college crowd.

3 Star ReviewNCAA MARCH MADNESS 2005
Strengths: Lots of different play modes
Weaknesses: Questionable AI, almost a jam-fest at times
Summary: March Madness contains tons of play modes and options but the basic gameplay still has some ways to go before it can hang with the big boys. It's good, but you'll have to put up with the cpu AI that is easily tricked and abused. There are times when your beating them so bad it looks like a score out of the old NBA Jam games.

I did not get too deep in this game and it's various modes largely due to lack of memory card space but regardless, I still preferred playing with the NBA big boys in ESPN Basketball.

Strengths: Dynasty mode, fluid graphics, fun gameplay
Weaknesses: No recognizable names like in the NBA
Summary: 2005-07-07 08:58:20 For someone who doesn't follow a lot of college ball, this game was just okay. The reason I got it was because of dynasty mode which I heard about from a friend. And because of it, I truly enjoyed the game. However, unlike with NBA Live games, there were no names I recognized or teams I could really side with. So it made the game a lot less enjoyable. However, if you do enjoy college basketball, then this is definately the game for you.

Strengths: Great college atmosphere, Dynasty mode, features hundreds of schools, smooth framerate.
Weaknesses: Player models could be better, A.I. issues at times.
Summary: I often find myself liking EA's college games more then their professional series (which I find cold and sterile). NBA Live and March Madness 2005 is a very good example of this thought of mine. Sure, there are no superstar athletes like you find in the NBA but this game more then makes up for it with a great college atmosphere. The arenas are so much more lively with fan animations, mascots, team bands and fan interaction. You actually feel like you have a home court advantage. The Dynasty mode is very deep as you recruit kids out of high school and try your best to win the National Championship. Unlike the NBA Live series on Playstation, March Madness does not suffer from crippling slowdown and frame rate issues. This game runs so much smoother. If you can only afford to buy one game (between Live and Madness), March Madness wins hands down.

Strengths: ability to play online, AOL dial-up compatible.
Weaknesses: graphics could be better
Summary: Similar to other EA Sports games, graphics aren't as good as its competitor, ESPN. I personally prefer ESPN 2k5 over EA, but then again...I'm not such a college hoops fan. Like I mentioned in the strengths, the ability for even AOL dial-up users to connect online as well...although I'm using broadband myself.

Strengths: Arcade like
Weaknesses: Too easy to score
Summary: Good basketball game. I prefer ESPN's games because they are more realistic. EA ones are still fun though because you can score and stuff really easil. However, ESPN is the best simulation.
