Strengths: brilliant graphics, first touch makes the game alot smoother, plays alot better than fifa 2004,All teams are bang up to date with the transfer market!
Weaknesses: not much changed with commentary, soundtrack no were near as good as fifa 2004.
Summary: Like alot of people i am torn between fifa and pro evolution, i have all the past fifa's and pro evolution soccer 3,but decided to go for fifa 2005 rather than the new pes 4 game simply because i get more enjoyment with fifa.

The first difference you will notice about this game is the career mode, spanning a massive 15 seasons, but if you think you will be able to lead your favourite club for that long...think again (unless you support lower league teams/spl teams).

You start of by creating yourself as a manager, then hiring staff such as fitness coach finance coach aswell as your striker/defence and midfield coaches.

This reminds me of championship manager. To upgrade your coaches and make them better at there job you need points, and you get points by winning games,so the more games you win, the better your background staff will be,which in turn will make your team better.

I started off managing celtic in the spl and am in the midst of trying to lead them to their first league championship. if i do this my manager rating stars go up and eventually i will be able to take over at old trafford as the new man united manager.

You can change teams every season, Go to a better one if your winning matches and your fans keep on your side, or go to a lower team due to being fired for being poor.

This all adds a little extra to the game and isnt too confusing.

The next thing you will notice is once you start playing a match, using the right anologue for the greatly advertised first touch becomes second nature and responds very well to the game, giving it a much quicker feel.Players like henry, c ronaldo and giggs can now actually take players on on the wings and beat them, which was sorely missing from last years fifa.

You still have to play the passing game but some fancy trickery can be done to leave defenders dazzled by some of the moves you can do.Shooting and scoring have been made more difficult, no more shooting from 40 yards out and seeing the ball swerve into the goal,No this time you have to be more direct in shooting and will see many shots run wide or go sky high, this all adds to the game and makes it that much better than last year.

john motson and ally mcciost return for the in game commentary, motson keeping you up to date with whats going on and the odd comment from mcoist, not much changed with the commentary but you will notice a few new lines in it.

Graphics to me are really good with nearly all the big teams having all the players looking at least half close to there counterparts.

There are alot of things to be unlocked in this game including third kits,The chance to play friendlies at night time and different footballs for each league, you buy these with points you earn.To earn points you need to complete your assignments, such as scoring a hat trick in a game, keeping a clean sheet and so on.

All in all this is a much better improvement than last years installment and with the fifteen year career mode should keep you going until next season and fifa 2006!

Overall 9/10
