Strengths: Expandable through outstanding 3rd party programs, stablility, features
Weaknesses: None really...may not fit in your PCI slot (results vary)
Summary: My main complaint first: I had to file down a tiny bit of the "hook" of the metal endpiece to get this to stay in my PCI slot. I don't know if mine was an exception or if they are all like this. The price could stand to come down about 20 bucks, but it's nothing to lose sleep over.

Regardless, this is a big step up from the 9800 All-In-Wonder I was using. Much better stability and more options for capturing video. 3rd party projects like GB-PVR really expand the functionality. No problems or crashes at all so far.

Strengths: Video quality is very good as well as sound. Is very compatible and works great with Mythtv.
Weaknesses: I have not had any problems so far with this product. I cannot think of any justifiable weaknesses.
Summary: I am using this card in a homebrew pvr running Knoppmyth. I had no problems setting things up except for a few settings I had to change in Mythtv to get tv out. I would recommend this card for anyone who is considering putting together a Mythtv system. Additionally, there is a great deal of documentation/forums/troubleshooting guides out there that can be very helpful if needed.

Strengths: The onboard MPEG encoder and decoder are key. Along with the TV output, this makes for simple setup of custom PVR Applications, including ones running on Linux.
Weaknesses: Lost one to a power surge over the cable tv line.. can't really blame the card for that though!
Summary: This card is a key component to any MythTV or any other Linux based PVR project. The onboard encoder/decoder and TV out allow you to utilitze much older computer hardware so you can keep your project costs down.

Strengths: easy to install, s video output,
Weaknesses: still over $100...
Summary: Well got this to record directly to the HD without paying TIVO's monthly fee. Installation was a snap. Picture quality OK - not HDTV - or maybe a better video card can help.Really like the S video output.

Strengths: Excellent picture Excellent recordings Multi-os support
Weaknesses: TV software is kind of lame Only encodes in mpeg2
Summary: I really like the card. It seems well-constructed, and the feature set is very good. Also, I've always had good experiences in the past with Hauppauge tech support. One of its strengths contributes to one of its weaknesses, though: It has onboard mpeg2 video encoding. That's really good, except that, for stuff I want to keep, I generally recode it into DiVX, adding an extra (lengthy) step. Also, WinTV2000, the app that is supplied to do tv playback, isn't as nice as some others. You might try one of the 3rd part tv apps.

Strengths: Great Stability - No Crashes, Easy Install, Compatible with other software
Weaknesses: Maybe picture quality (???)
Summary: 2006-03-26 19:40:58 The PVR-350 is very stable and works each and every time. This is particularly important to me because I was replacing a tuner that spent more time locked up than working (Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe USB). This tuner syncs well with Titan TV, reliably turns on, and records any program I schedule, whether it is a one time event or a nightly news broadcast. Coping the saved material from hard drive to DVD for viewing on my Home Theater has worked well. If there is a weakness, it may be the video quality. I have a high resolution digital monitor and high end video card, so I have no other explanation for why the video quality is not any crisper than it is. It is not bad, just not as good as I might have expected. Still hands down better than Pinnacle. I would definitely buy it again.

Strengths: Easy install, great picture quality, video output to Composite and S-VHS
Weaknesses: None, really. If I had to come up with something - throwing a S-VHS cable into the box would have been nice.
Summary: 2006-02-18 17:12:53 I bought the PVR-350 specifically for its ability to deliver sound & video not only to the PC but also to external devices such as a TV or VCR - one of the few products offering this.

I was positively surprised by the installer - I am running 2K3 Server - which presented a popup saying "OS not supported. Install anyway?". Many other installers for drivers (i.e. for HP Printers) would just flatout refuse to continue the install on 2003 while the Hauppauge stuff installs and works just fine.

I am very pleased with the quality of the software and, more importantly, the picture. On my Samsung LCD the picture looks a lot better than anything that comes out of the integrated TV tuner on my wife's Samsung 170MP.

Strengths: Easy To Install and Setup. Great Picture Quality. Hardware Encoding and Decoding.
Weaknesses: Remote needs improvement. Documentation and Software needs work.
Summary: I had this product up and running for about a week now. I am Very Statisfied with it so far. I havent had any major issues. Im planning on purchasing another one for my other pc.

1 Star ReviewHauppauge PVR350
Strengths: Don't know of any. I couldn't get it to work.
Weaknesses: Don't know - couldn't get it to work.
Summary: With Windows 98 SE, I could not get it to load all the drivers. I kept getting messages of missing files from my Win98 disk after being told to insert it.

Figured I'd upgrade to Windows XP. After doing so, the drivers loaded fine, so did the apps that came with; but after scanning for channels, everytime I would click OK or on one of the channels to add or delete, my computer froze. I had to unplug her everytime. I e-mailed support at Hauppauge and they sent me instructions. I followed all their instructions to no avail. I guess I'll have to return it.

2 Star ReviewHAUPPAUGE WINTV-PVR 350 PCI
Strengths: Clear Picture
Weaknesses: Be advised that if you want to use a VCR with this card, you must purchase an audio "Y" to connect Red & White audio input lines from your VCR, as it is NOT included with this card.
Summary: I've only had this card installed a few days, but seems "OK". I have always used ATI All-in-Wonder cards, but thought I would give this a try to keep the TV Tuner seperate from the system video. I may switch back to ATI!!!
