3 Star ReviewA Hood to cover the sun?
Strengths: Minimizes glare, Easy attachment...
Weaknesses: Not Wide Angle Friendly
Summary: Well, what can you write about a hood? It basically attempts to minimize glare while taking a shot which it does effectively. The 37mm adapter darkens photos indoors when attached, since it has a long neck and prevents the flash from working properly but obviously this is for use outdoors in heavy sunlight. The Lens Hood adds a little more "cover" to the lens so that you get less glare and the colors are NOT as bleached, so it is able to achieve that successfully.

It screws on easily enough onto the 37mm adapter so you do not have that FINE THREAD problem you do with the adapter going onto the camera. The problem arises when you have a WIDE ANGLE LENS attached, where it would have been NICE to be able to put the hood on top to prevent glare. The Lens Hood works nicely with the Telephoto Lens but I guess it is an issue of threading different size attachments since the Wide Angle is WIDER. :)

In conclusion, I find that I never really use the Lens Hood since it takes time to attach or remove when I am usually going for WIDE ANGLE shots. No one can resist a WIDE ANGLE shot of a mountain scene, ancient ruins, or massive amounts of people so it is a shame that those shots might be ruined by glare. I feel a little jipped over buying the Lens Hood when I can only use it for telephoto or HEAVY sunlight shots. It does the job well in those situations but you should be able to use it with the wide angle attachment, but that is just my preference...

3 Star ReviewLens hood a necessity with telephoto lenses.
Strengths: Cuts back on glare
Weaknesses: 3rd piece to add to the camera.
Summary: Great concept by Kodak to give users the option to add a telephoto lens to a (non SLR) digital camera. And just like with my regular SLR camera, I find that a lens hood helps cut back on glare.
