Summary: 2008-02-13 15:10:44 This unit is unreliable and unfortunately Whirlpool will not take responsibility beyond the warranty. I've had 3 major repairs within a year and half out of warranty. I had to replace a console in the icemaker that dropped the ice into bin. A plastic gear had sheared. It cost me $248.44 to fix! Later another plastic part broke in the dispenser, this one in the door. You know that little flap? I was told the entire door would have to be replaced, a $600 part. On top that, the thermostat console which controls the interior light and led reading went out. Who knows how much that is. I personally will be avoiding all Whirlpool products like the plague. I feel ripped off.
