I don't think it ever got to even half the sub's potential without overheating after one song. Maybe half but it never got full up ever. I think I got close a couple of times but it over heated in less than 45 seconds. I think next time I will buy an amp that is made to dissapate its heat without a fan. And it won't be a kenwood. Like the other guy said, let it rip at 1 ohm for 966 watts. I live in south florida and I have seen it overheat. It is all digital and shuts itself off if it is experiencing high temperatures. It prevents any harm to the amp. As with any amp, you need to mount it in a place that gets decent ventalation if you live in hot climates. I have been pounding this amp every day for a year. Amp is best wired at One ohm, 4Ohms will over heat it, 2 ohms runs well. This amp was born kindred to the KFC-XW1202DVC subs. Weaknesses: High amperage draw, never once had an over heating problem. Just mount it where it can breath. Summary: I have purchased 3 of these amps now, and after reading the previous reviews i found i needed to give a bit more in-depth results. I have had one of these stolen, the 2 i run now power 1 sub each. Each KFC-XW1202DVC wired at 1ohm running the amp at 969 WRMSx1ohm. I have 3 deep cycle optima batteries and 2 - 3 farad caps. These amps EAT batteries. Strongly suggest upgraded power supply with any mono block. Never have had over heating problems.
