HP Pavilion Desktop
Strengths: Appears to be excellent value for the money
Weaknesses: No documentation, No useful support
Summary: After buying this desktop and opening the outer box, I noted that there was no (nil, zero, zip) useful documentation for the machine, for the operating system, or for the software included. I emailed HP tech support (a long, drawn-out process, since they can't read English well enough to answer the questions that were asked) & they said everything was on the disk. Having explored HP machines in the store for several hours, I knew that this was a bald-faced lie. There was no manual for the motherboard, graphics, sound, or drives on the disk.
Nevertheless, I decided that I could work things out and took the CPU out of the box, only to find that there was a rattle inside the case. Sounded like a screw or other piece of metal, but could have been a loose cable. Back to the email, where, after several back and forth messages, they told me to go to a web site where I could see how to open the case and fix the problem (!). Apparently HP is not concerned about the lack of quality control that allows a system to be shipped with loose internal components.
At this point I decided that I did not want to do business with a company that used tech support that did not understand English, that was not concerned about poor quality control, and that felt it was OK to deliver merchandise with loose objects rattling inside!
It goes back for a refund today!!!!!!!
