Toshiba 47LZ196 47" LCD TV

Very impressed!

Strengths: Top notch 1080p picture quality, impressive audio. Excellent value for the $$

Summary: Just like the other reviewers, I am totally impressed with the audio/video quality of this TV and just love it! I've had this TV for over a month now and am just hooked to it every night. The picture is crystal clear and sharp. The color is very vivid and pleasant to the eyes. The audio is great even w/ the built-in speakers. I have Dishnetwork HDTV package and I'm just blown away by what I get from this LCD. All my friends are aslo very impressed whenever they see this beauty.

There's also a bunch of other useful features. If you connect the TV to your home network, you can access pictures/music stored on your computer from the TV. You'll even be able to send emails to the TV to setup/cancel recordings based on the built-in TV Guide.

I did extensive research before going w/ this Toshiba. A lot of people focus on Sony, Sharp and Samsung. I had very bad experience w/ Sony products before, and I find that a lot of Sony LCD TV's have the "dark cloud" problem. Sharp is better when it comes to LCD, but again, a lot of them have the "banding" issue. Even the display unit in the store we checked showed the banding issue. The Samsung models at the same level are way more expensive than this Toshiba. Go for it, you will be impressed!

Awesome!!!

Strengths: Great picture right out of the box. Beautifully finished cabinet.

Weaknesses: Shows just how bad some poor quality standard def programming is.

Summary: I've had this unit for almost a week now and I have to say that I am extremely impressed. The picture is fantastic and it looks great even when it's not turned on. I wasn't able to find very many reviews on this while I was shopping--it seems most people are focused on Sony, Samsung or Sharp but I've always had good luck with Toshiba in the past so I decided to go for it. I picked it up for just under $2500 and I have it connected via HDMI to a Toshiba HD-DVD, a Dish Network High-Def receiver and a Sony 400-disc mega DVD changer and all I can say is...WOW!!! If you buy this unit you will not be dissapointed.

A Window on the World

Strengths: This TV has excellent color fidelity. Skin tones are convincing and all colors look very natural. The various adjustments allow you to taylor the picture to your exact requirements.

Weaknesses: None that I could find so far!

Summary: I finally feel like I am watching a movie. The picture on this set blends perfectly with my surround system to immerse

you in the movie. When watching sports the details will blow you away. A good concert performance brings you right to the venue. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for the

best picture performance available.

Summary: The television is excellent. When i first received it I loved it. The picture comes in extremely clear and its nice to watch it. I loved it so much I immediately bought a second one for another room.

Clearly Superior Product

Strengths: Extremely sharp picture, superb color display, excellent styling.

Weaknesses: One initial setup problem in that it would occasionally lose track of where it was and would tell me that the cable had to be connected to Antenna 1 (which it was) before I could change channels.

Summary: Very easy setup out of the box. Biggest problem was the cable serviceman really didn't know how to deal with the cable card very well. Also had a problem with occasionally set losing track of where it was, telling me that the cable had to be connected to Antenna 1 (which it was). Called Toshiba customer support, and tech rep walked me through the problem. Found that set needed a software update. Tech rep set up local service under warranty and problem was quickly solved. I have had my unit for one year now, and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. Recently hooked up a newly purchased Blu Ray player to the set and watched Planet Earth DVD by the BBC. WOW!!!

BUYER BEWARE!!!

Strengths: great picture and zoom functions. Loved it when it worked.

Weaknesses: JUNK after 1 year TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Summary: I have a Toshiba 47LZ196 that I paid $3499.99 for in Dec. 2006 that is just under 1 year and 2.5 months old and the panel ($3400.00) crapped out on me. After being informed by multiple Toshiba reps that I was in the window to receive assistance I was informed NOTHING would be covered and I was responsible for the cost of the part and repairs. What a joke for a higher end flat panel. One year and almost $4000.00 done the old crapper. I've been doing more and more research and many other people have had similar situations with other manufacturers too!
