Strengths: Powerful sub for its size and typical great Altec Lansing performance.
Weaknesses: Nothing evident
Summary: These speakers wont make your neighbours fall off the bed. However if you are looking for mid range speakers with great sound quality, these would be a very good choice.

The sound quality is excellent and is ideal music playback & games. Besides, I think they are a geat price for the quality. I have used cheaper speakers with sub woofers in the past and there is really no comparision. Highly recommended!

Strengths: Excellent System for the entry level users. Fit for any desktop systems.
Weaknesses: Have hissing noise if the power is left on for longer time.
Summary: If you are not playing high end games then this system is best fit for entry level users for the price you pay. I highly recommend this sound sysytem for entry level users.

Strengths: Decent
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: 2004-10-28 18:17:00 I think it's a great deal. Of course with such price it's not possible to make it too loud. But it's enough for normal user who doesn't care about 5.1 surround. In fact to get a 5.1 channel speaker worked may require you to have compatible sound card, which is very time consuming. So, why not choose a less complex way?

Strengths: Excellent performance for the price, good looks
Weaknesses: Hard to reach volume knob
Summary: These Altec Lansing speakers are great. Although they won't blow you away like higher end systems, for basic computing and gaming needs they suffice. They look good with almost any PC set up, and for the price they can't be beat. Overall I highly recommend these speakers.

Strengths: good sound for the price
Weaknesses: no volume knob on bass
Summary: I've used mine for 1.5 years, and now they're busted...or at least I think they are. When I plug them into the green headphone jack I hear a loud buzzing sound and lots of static. After fiddling with the connection the buzzing goes away...but then returns if I slightly shift my computer. Any suggestions?

Other than the fact that they are now dead, I loved these speakers. Excellent sound for the price!

3 Star ReviewVS2121W 2.1 Speaker System
Strengths: good statue, reliable brand
Weaknesses: static noise. subwoofer is not efficent
Summary: everything is ok expect that is has static noise when you near the jack. Also, the subwoof is not very efficient. Sometimes you can not feel it's exist. Anyway, this speaker is very cheap and it is a basic one. We can not expect too much

Strengths: Excellent quality for the price ($10-$15) Music sounds great Speakers look good, and don't take up much space
Weaknesses: no volume control on the bass, but for this price who cares?
Summary: I haven't done any gaming with these speakers, but playing music sounds really good. I haven't had any problems with hissing noises at all. Granted, I don't crank the volume up sky high either, but you can get some very nice and clear sound even at mid-volume.

Overall an excellent buy and recommended for this price point.

Strengths: Good looking, inexpensive but yet good sound quality.
Weaknesses: Volume control is difficult to reach quickly.
Summary: Inexpensive but very good quality Sub's for PC or MP3 player.

Design is nice and size also makes it easy to place in desk or in kitchen anywhere.

Volume knob is located such a way that it is not quickly reachable.

Strengths: Bass is rich and full bodied, use of the sound field expander makes the sound on the satelites more wide.
Weaknesses: No ON/OFF switch. No control for subwoofer volume. has a small audible sound when not in use.
Summary: This speaker system is very good for the price. It dosent have the big bass sound that some like but I beleive that it is just right.

Strengths: They sound great up to mid levels. Very attractive, Quick Set up. Very stable.
Weaknesses: No bass control hurts. Have to tweak sound through the media player as some techno and pop is way to bassy.
Summary: Altec manages to do more for the price than other speakers. These replaced some low end Harmon Kardons (HK 695-01) and are 10x s better. Gaming has been OK given the acoustics of my office.

Strengths: Compact, Sound quality, Volume, Value
Weaknesses: Volume knob location
Summary: These speakers were just what I was looking for: a 2.0 or compact 2.1 system that looks decent, sounds great, and doesn't take up a lot of space. The only drawback has been the slightly hard-to-reach volume knob on the inside of the left speaker. The headphone jack is a plus.
