 I have never bought anything manufactured by Muste ... Strengths: Purportedly records to DVD+/-R & DVD+/-RW, supposed ease of use, progressive scan, playable A/V formats: WMA, MP3, CD-RW, CD-R, CD, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD, SVCD, DVD-RW, VCD, DVD-R
Weaknesses: I have had the unit for 4 months and I have sent it in for warranty work 3 times.
Summary: I have never bought anything manufactured by Mustek, so I can't say whether this is common for them company-wide, but I bought this unit in APR '04 from Home Shopping Network (HSN). It's now AUG '04 and since that time I have had to send it back 3 times, each time receiving a letter stating "Your product was defective and has been replaced with a new or refurbished unit."
If I had it to do over, I would go with a more recognized brand (Panasonic, Hitachi, etc.). As of right now, I cannot endorse this item.
