2 Star ReviewSamsung SGH-D900 User review
Strengths: erm, its thin, oh and I guess the 3 mega pixel camera is good.
Weaknesses: See below...
Summary: I HATE this phone! This is the worst phone I have ever owned. I have had the phone for just over a week, and being a geek I have read the user manual and played with all the functions it has to offer.

These are the main reasons I hate this phone...

1) Only one theme is provided with the phone, which you can not update.

2) The polyphonic ring tones that come pre installed sound very dated and you would feel embarrassed if your phone rang in public.

3) I bought a 1 GB micro memory card - if you turn the phone off it DOES NOT recognise the card.

4) In order to use one of your MP3' s stored on your memory card as a ring tone you need you need to copy it to the phone..? - WHY?

5)If you have the head phones plugged in a little "flap" of plastic sticks out of the phone - I will put money on this "flap" of plastic breaking off my phone before Xmas...

6) Any MP3's you upload will need to have very short file names with no "special" characters i.e. -)(*&^%$£"! your phone will not recognise them.

7) You can not view any photos on your memory card in "slideshow" mode (again you have to copy them to the phone to do this! (WHY!?)

8) The phone came pre installed with a demo of Sonic The Hedgehog - WOW! I thought, but the phone is too slow to run the game! Sonic is often to be seen suspended in mid air.

9) The other guy who reviewed this phone has obviously never owned a PDA - This phone has VERY limited synchronisation with Outlook, and any notes you have saved with contacts will not be transferred. (You can view XLS, DOC PDF files on the screen, but the screen is so tiny it is not worth it.

10) The phone feels “cheap” very flimsy plastic battery cover, and I think it will get scratched very quickly.

11) I admit the phone looks very nice, has a great 3mb camera, but as soon as you start using it you will grow to hate it. The only people that have been impressed by this phone are my girlfriend’s teenage brother and sister, and my drunken student mates who looked at it like it was a gold ingot… STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!

Strengths: Size features
Weaknesses: Text messaging UI is more keystroke intensive than is needs to be.
Summary: Slim! Very comfortable in pocket. Nice to have a 3mp camera and mp3 player in phone...3mp camera and mp3 player are rudimentary. Overall phone User Interface is more keystrokes than my previous siemens phone.

    2 Years
Strengths: Camera, size, contacts UI
Weaknesses: No standard headphone jack, MP3 player limited to 4 built-in playlists with a maximum of 30 tracks each
Summary: I have really enjoyed this phone. I've used it for 2 years now, and it was well worth the investment when I originally purchased it!

The camera is fantastic! I've managed to get some amazing shots with it, and it's so nice to have something of that resolution with you at all times. In fact it's one reason I have not yet upgraded to one of the new generation of smartphones. One negative was that it would not save pictures to the SD card by default. Instead I had to manually move them to the SD card if I wanted them there to save space, but I have never run out of space on the phone itself.

The MP3 player is less impressive. I have used a 1GB micro-SD card, but the MP3 player limits you to 4 custom playlists and only 30 tracks on each of these lists at a time.

The software that comes with the phone for syncing with your computer (I use Windows XP, Outlook 2003) was buggy. Often I could not transfer some of the pictures I had taken off of it. I found a workaround where I could copy the pictures to the SD card (which was difficult in the phone's UI) and then connect the phone in Mass-Storage mode and use Windows Explorer to copy the pictures off. That was disappointing. The SMS reader was less than spectacular as well, often not display the entire contents of the messages on my computer. The positive aspect here was the ringtone generation software. It was a handy UI that worked well at letting me trim up my MP3s into ringtone sizes. Also, this phone did not limit the size of the MP3 file used for the ringtone as some of the other Samsung phones do (e.g. the katana).

Overall, I was very pleased with this phone. I am looking forward to upgrading to a new smart phone, but for a standard feature phone, this one is excellent!

Strengths: Looks, LCD, MP3, THE CAMERA, reception
Weaknesses: battery life isn't as long as I'd like, headset jack sticks out far on rightside
Summary: This is my best purchase in a while. I am not a cell phone fanatic, but I'll look around for a good one at a reasonable price when I need a new one. This has an awesome camera, which I mean the image quality is spectacular to my eyes compared to some phones and camera's IQ I have seen. Then you have MP3 player/ringtones, nice LCD, bluetooth stereo, nice sliding action, looks, MP4 movie player/recorder, timer, stopwatch, converters, etc. It is packed with features, looks wonderful, and the price is reasonable for such a cool thing. It is thin and easily carried. I highly recommend this phone.
