Strengths: Comfortable, Noise-Canceling Function Works Well, Good Battery Life, Folding Design for Storage, Comes with Carrying Pouch, Detachable Cord
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2007-03-29 09:44:21 I've been sitting here, staring at this screen for the last 5 minutes, trying to come up with something negative about these headphones to list in the "Weaknesses" section, and you know what? I got nothing. There really isn't anything I can thing of that I don't like about these headphones. So let me run down some of the things that I do like about them.
First, these headphones are very comfortable. I can wear them for hours at a time. They don't put too much pressure on your head, and the padding feels nice.
The noise-canceling function is great. I didn't think the feature would really make that big of an impact, but I was wrong. I wear these headphones in the lounge at my school during lunch hour, when the room is packed with chattering students, and the noise-canceling feature works wonders. With these headphones, I simply turn on the noise-canceling feature and block everyone else out. I couldn't explain to you how the technology works, but I can tell you that from my experience, the noise-canceling feature does what it is supposed to. The easiest way to tell this is to get in a loud environment and turn the switch on and off; you'll hear the difference.
One of the best things about these headphones is that they are priced fairly reasonably. They retail for about $60, and you can sometimes get them cheaper during a sale or mail in rebate. There are few sets of headphones out there that can rival this set in quality at this price point. Many competing models are well in the hundreds; they might be better, but I don't see the need to pay the higher prices. These headphones will do the job.
Last, I'd like to say that the headphones are well designed in general. It's like Creative came up with a list of intuitive, helpful features and then implemented all of them. Here are some of the notable features: the headphones come with a nice drawstring carrying pouch; the headphones can fold up into a compact shape and size for easier transportation; and you can detach the cord (useful for travel, since you won't have to worry about breaking off the plug).
Overall, I highly recommend these headphones for anyone who is looking for a quality set of headphones at a decent price. The noise-canceling function makes these headphones even better, and well-done minor features make this set of headphones outstanding.

My experience with headphone HN-700
Strengths: good quality, good noise-canceling effect, which creates a quiet environment during the flight. Portable design with attached black pouch.
Weaknesses: a little bulky, and feel tight even on a small head (like myself).
Summary: It's my second time to use the noise-canceling headphone, overall OK and gives you a quiet environment for music or movie. Not really recommend to people who wear glasses, since it right presses on the glasses frame unless you choose to wear it without glasses. A little bulky but portable when you shape it and fit it into the attached black pouch.

Strengths: Very compact after folding, comfortable, sturdy, and good battery life.
Weaknesses: Easy to turn on noise cancellation by accident and never notice.
Summary: Overall, very satisfied. As long as you understand the limitations of noise cancellation headphones, you should be happy. It doesn't block out high pitch noise and certainly doesn't block background noise 100%, but it does make listening to music in noisy environments enjoyable. As a regular headphone, it feels very comfortable after prolonged use and has decent sound. The biggest benefit for me is that I don't have to turn the volume up over background noise, which is easier on the ears.

Strengths: Affordable, sound quality quite good, noise reduction works okay, comfortable
Weaknesses: None
Summary: My brother, who is a relatively frequent flyer, reommended these to me. Tried his pair on a recent flight and was pleasantly surprised both by their comfort during prolonged wear, and the effectiveness of the noise cancellation in counteracting the constant drone of the engines. I am not an audiophile, so cannot wax poetic on the "brightness" of the midrange or the "purity" of the treble, but they sounded just fine to me both with dialogue of a DVD playing on my laptop, and also some CDs I listened to as well. For what I paid for these (Creative was running a mail-in rebate at the time, shaved $20 off the cost), I could have bought five more pairs or so, and still would have paid less than the better-known Bose product. That's quite a few nice dinners out for me. No complaints here!

An OK buy only if dirt cheap
Strengths: Price
Weaknesses: Noise cancellation performance, sound quality
Summary: Noise cancellation actually creates high frequency noise. Sound quality isn't good either. However, for the price, it was OK (I got it for less than a fifteenth of a Bose, so I'm not too unhappy).

Strengths: Cheap price and very portable. Good sound quality and comfortable to wear. Nice carrying case included.
Weaknesses: Sound quality is good but could be better. Noise-cancelling feature is mediocre and not up to par with other noise-cancelling headphones.
Summary: These are a great value. The sound quality of the headphones is good, and they are portable seeing as they fold up and you get a leather pouch to put them in. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. However, the noise-cancelling feature of these headphones is mediocre and not as good as other headphones like the Bose ones. However, the price of these is much lower than the Bose headphones. Overall, a good purchase for the money.

Strengths: Very Good Sound Quality.
I used it on plane and it has no problem to isolate the background noise, it works great.
Very comfortable. I did not feel any uncomfortbale due to longtime usage.
Weaknesses: N/A
Summary: I bought this headphone and enjoy its good quality. This guy has a very good sound quality.I used it on plane several times and it has no problem to isolate the background noise,so it shoudl work great in subway, bus and other place has much background noise.
Another point is this headphone is very comfortable, and the price is acceptable according to its good quality. I plan to buy another one as a gift to my brother.

Strengths: Effective noise reduction.
Weaknesses: However, still expect to hear outside noises, especially when the device it turned off.
Summary: I wasn't expecting much from this when I made the purchase, as it was about $25 after rebate. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I have used it in several places and it significantly reduces the noise when the device is turned on. But when there are people around you speaking loudly, you can still hear their voices. It does its job in airports and in the plane though. I particularly like that it folds into the included pouch, and the cord is removable. It looks a bit funny on your head, like an alien antenna, but I really enjoy the sound quality for the amount I paid. Of course, don't expect to get Bose quality.

Strengths: good noise cancellation, stackable in a pouch
Weaknesses: it is not the most comfortable headphone, not ideal one for listening music
Summary: Bought this item online. It will come to like $20 after rebate. It is perfectly fine for the price. It does a decent job for noise cancellation. It feels uncomfortable if you use it for a long time. I never had any noise cancellation headphones before so I can not compare with other brands. I think it is satisfactory for budget shoppers. I would not buy it for only listening music though. I think if you are considering it for noise cancellation purposes it is a good buy. However if you also care for the voice quality forget about this one.

A Fair Value
Strengths: Cost. Foldable and easy to pack.
Weaknesses: Background noise.
Summary: The active noise cancellation works relatively well with a low to medium background noise. However, don’t turn it on when it is quite around you. The circuit adds noise!

Creative HN-700 EF Review
Strengths: well priced; pretty good sound quality; quite compact after folding
Weaknesses: noise canceling could be better
Summary: The Creative HN-700 EF headphones are pretty good headphones if you're looking for noise cancelling on a budjet.
They require and come with 2 AAA batteries. Though they last pretty long, I would highly advise investing in some rechargeable AAA batteries as you will save good money in the long run. The headphones also come with a pretty nice carrying pouch.
I've found the sound quality on these headphones to be on par with a couple of other Creative headphones that I currently own. It's pretty good, especially for the price. Don't expect awesome noise cancelling, however. It works, but mainly to block out soft to medium sounds.
I was able to buy these headphones for $15 after rebate, and for that price, I would highly recommend them. However, I wouldn't pay $50-$60 for them (which is the cost they usually retail for).

Fairly portable but not the best noise cancelling
Strengths: -folded size
-comfort
-built quality
Weaknesses: -noise cancelling not the best
-a lot of white noise if the battery is running low
Summary: This headset is bigger than the similar priced folding noise cancelling headsets currently for sale. It does fold down to a nice size for travelling. The cable and airplane adapter contacts are gold plated so there will be less signal loss due to oxidation. I like that the cable is fully detachable so if I am on a flight, I don't have to worry about the cord getting in the way. I can also buy a longer length cord to replace the included one. I tried using a set of used batteries and the headset emitted a lot of white noise. There was lower white noise on a new set of batteries so the problem may be due to a lack of voltage regulation. The noise cancelling is not as good as I hoped. The ear muffs fit over your ears so even without turning on the electronics, it does block a fair amount of the ambient noise.

Strengths: Excellent base.
Weaknesses: A little bigger
Summary: A good buy with the money. Very comfortable when travelling. Recommend it when you travel very often and sitting in the flight most of them. A excellent product for a business man.

Good value for the price
Strengths: Reasonable sound quality, noise cancellation works
Weaknesses: Not the most comfortable, at least at first glance
Summary: 2007-03-27 22:58:53 I haven't worn these on a plane or bus ride yet, but I've tried them around the house. They don't block sudden sharp noise, they seem to handle lower frequency noises like refrigerator hum pretty well. Between the noise cancellation technology and the fact that your ears are covered and there's music playing, they also do reasonably well at blocking out conversations (my own pet peeve).

Good for the price
Strengths: Soft on the ears, lightweight, blocks out noise
Weaknesses: Sound quality is just OK
Summary: These are good for the price but it's not like they are Bose. I'd say the sound quality is about the same as my Sony earbuds. They do a good job at blocking out noise though. They fold up nicely and fit into the supplied carrying pouch, but the way they hinge I'm afraid they could break too easily.
