It's hooked up to the TV. Definetely beats the TV-speakers. It broke down once. I was listening to MP3s a lot, and the tray stopped working then I could only switch it off by unplugging it. Sent it to Service center, payed 50 dollar shipping (which they didn't recover), got it back 2 MONTHS later. They said that I shouldn't use written CDs, only originals. If you find an original MP3 CD, let me know... Anyway, I got a Philips shelf system (speakers are similar strenght-450 watts) hooked up to my PC in an other room, the difference is huge!!!! Much better sound quality, no breakdowns after 2.5 years of daily abuse! Only complaint is from the neighbours! 100% of People (4/4) found this review helpful. Weaknesses: Needs longer subwoofer cable. Summary: This is a great little unit for the price. I found it better than others that I purchased for a bit more and ended up returning them. I'm quite pleased at all of the features packed into this compact unit and the great booming sound it produces. The MP3 feature is a great plus too, allowing you to play up to 3 MP3 CDs for many hours of music. You can't go wrong with this one! 94% of People (15/16) found this review helpful. Strengths: Superb power (400W), crisp clear sound, affordable price for an excellent system, everything packaged into one Weaknesses: may take up a bit of space Summary: When I received this mini hifi system, I was excited unpacking it and hooking it up. Upon hooking it up, I started playing some music from a local radio station, and I thought it sounded really nice. Overall, after testing out many different systems at retail shops, I have concluded that this system by Sony outperforms any other system at the $199 price point. It's simply the best bang for the buck (literally). It's affordable, it's powerful, and it is possibly even better sounding than higher priced systems. I've also hooked it up to my xbox, and although it's not as good as a 5.1 home theater setup, the system does a very good job of making it seem like you have a 5.1 system by outputting great sound and incredible bass.
