Strengths: Price (prices keep getting slashed on this model) and the Picture quality is excellent
Weaknesses: 2 main weknesses- 1, no split screen using hdmi or the pc inputs and 2, pc inputs are actually only 800x600 resolution
Summary: I believe you can get a better tv however you will pay ALOT more. There always seem to be some weaknesses however I personally can live with the weaknesses because this tv is awesome- I will say though, the better the inputs you use (ex. hdmi) the better the picture is, however all in all the picture quality is awesome. No rainbows seen by me anyway, and the fan noise is a minium on the set I have. And as far as the no split screen using hdmi or the pc inputs, I don't belive that's a real setup back as I believe split screen is more a gimmick (like pip) than an actual use anyway. I haven't tried (but am going to try) an hdmi to component video for my computer as I have read (but cannot confirm as of yet anyway) that if this is done you can then have your cpu resolution higher than 800x600 and you can use split screen (again I can not confirm this however). This tv isn't perfect but you would be very hard pressed to find a better picture quality for the same (or around the same) price in a 50" dlp.

Strengths: Easy setup. Picture is fantastic. For the money this set is a great deal.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: I had this set up and running in minutes. Calibration was easy. Dvds look great. There is a little fan noise but it is not noticeable at normal sound levels.

Strengths: Good picture quality. Lots of interfaces including HDMI
Weaknesses: The biggest weakness is the loud fan noise.
Summary: I purchased this set from an online store. First of all I'd suggest you to pay a few bucks more and buy your set from a local store. It is much easier when you have a problem, or when you need to return the set.

The Panasonic PT-50DL54 has beautiful picture quality. One of the best I have seen. The sound system is very good, too. But, the loud fan noise is a BIG ISSUE. Even if I turn the volume up, I still hear it, which defeats the purpose of paying so much for a TV set. Anyway, next time I will go for Sony.

2 Star ReviewPT-50DL54 50" DLP Projection TV (16:9, HDTV Compatible)
Strengths: Good picture, good sound, perfect price.
Weaknesses: What a terrible nosy fan. the noise is so particular-bothering that you can listen even if you turn the volume at maximum.
Summary: This is my first Panasonic and the last one.

Now I´m not sure if I did the DLP correctly instead of Plasma or LCD for a little more money.

I wish to turn this back, but unfortunately I throw out all the packaging before I notice about the noisy fan.

Strengths: Picture, HDMI input, remote, look.
Weaknesses: Fan noise
Summary: I purchased this TV for 2599.00 at Valley TV in El Monte. Unit was out of the box, on a stand, and operational in 5 minutes. After watching a few programs in standard 4:3 programming I switched over to a DVD. The picture was stunning using the HDMI input. The colors are very bright, the picture is very crisp, and the viewing angles are amazing compared to a regular projection TV. After watching a DVD I switched over to HDTV. HDTV was even more amazing. The only thing that has bothered me so far is the fan noise. The fan noise is loud, however, once you are mesmerized by the picture of the program you are watching the noise fades away. Lastly the look of the TV is very sleek and stylish.
