Strengths: - Very solid & well built sub-woofer - Heavy adjustable satellites with a 3" mid and tweeter horn - Deep, rich sound that does not distort at the highest volumes
Weaknesses: - May cause noise complaints from neighbors - Control pod is full featured but awkward at times
Summary: I originally bought these puppies 3 years ago and gave them to the Mrs. to use at her office where they still rock! I got a set of the Pro Media 2.1 regulars, but felt they never measured up the the Pro Media GMX 2.1's on sound quality and power output. So I ordered a new set of GMX's for myself!

I primarily use WinAmp playing MP3's over these and push them hard. The satellites never seem to quit at any volume and just keep going & going without any distortion. There have been reports of hiss on these, but from my experience, its related to using a crappy sound card or on-board sound like AC97.

Overall I highly recommend them with 2 caveats. 1) You need some space for this setup, so plan accordingly. 2) Be prepared for the walls and floors to vibrate/rattle! These are very powerful and can easily attract noise complaints!

Strengths: Easy Set-up, EXCEPTIONAL SOUND
Weaknesses: Control saucer attaches to sub-woofer via a multi-pin connector. The pins on this connectorr are VERY flimsy and are easily bent. Be careful when inserting.
Summary: I have 2 of these speaker sets and am very happy with them. Tried the logitech Z-2200 but they do not deliver the clean crisp quality sound of the Klipsch GMX A 2.1

Strengths: Superior sound, easy setup, iPod-MP3 compatible.
Weaknesses: Instructions should include home theater setup info, too.
Summary: 2005-03-01 11:36:29 On the strength of other user's recommendations, I hesitantly ordered the Klipsch ProMedia GMX A 2.1 Speaker System, ostensibly as a "high end" sound system for my iPod and iBook. Well, after several days' use, I'm hear to tell you that you should IMMEDIATELY run out and purchase this system, too! Right out of the box, the speaker system impressed -- both with reference to it's elegance and sound. Easy to setup, it was hard to believe that my iPod was responsible for the great, full and throaty sound coming from the satellite speakers and subwoofer. I'm thinking about hooking up my TV and DVD player to the speaker system, as well, thereby avoiding some of the "where do I hide all the wiring?" issues attendant to surround-sound home theater systems.

Strengths: Great set up
Weaknesses: None
Summary: For the price it is hard to beat. I was so tired of my old system and didn't want to spend a lot of money even though I listen more to my computer then my stero system. This a great choice

2 Star ReviewDecent Computer Speakers
Strengths: Great sound with little distortion at high volume
Weaknesses: Constant Soft Hissing, Corny looks, difficult to turn off.
Summary: In most cases, these computer speakers would work very well. However, in my case, there were probably some better selections. One problem is there is a constant hiss when speakers are on. The hiss becomes impossible to hear while music is playing, however when there is silence, it's audible when sitting 3 feet away. Another problem is the volume remote. When you turn the volume all the way to the left to the off position... the speakers don't really turn off. The hissing is still there... and if you have music playing on your computer, you can hear it slightly. It appears that the tweeters have some leakage (source of hiss and music while volume all the way off). To get rid of the hissing, you need to go to the back of the sub and flip the switch (which is sometimes a pain in the ass).

If you're looking for a pair of computer speakers for a family room and don't mind the looks, these are for you. If you're looking for a set of speakers for a bedroom and don't want speakers that look like they came from space, look else ware.

Strengths: Clarity of sound Compact size Easy to connect
Weaknesses: Design not so impressive
Summary: These are the best sounding computer speakers I ever had. Although I am not very impressed with the design of these speakers but what matters most to me is quality of sound then the physical appeal. With the controller on the slightest sub-woofer level the music sounds so powerful that I feel I can shake the entire building if i turn them high. Apart from being high in power, the speakers has high clarity of sound.

Summary: Highly recommended. Sharp, crisp sound. The fidelity is excellent. I bought a second set for the TV in my bedroom. Nice volume and bass control. Great for music on the computer, TV, and gaming.
