Strengths: Very good sound quality for both handset and speakerphone, no interfere. The design of the whole phone is very stylish: nice graphic LCD display and a backlit keypad, I like the orange color.
Weaknesses: The range is not that good as I thought for a 5.8GHz. The belt clip is somewhat too big, I did not install it on the phone.
Summary: I bought this 5.8GHz Uniden phone to exchange for a 2.4GHz phone that I bought just one week before, the 2.4GHz one had a very bad handset sound quality and interference with my PC’s wireless network. I have used this Uniden phone for a week, so far I am very satisfied with it. The sound quality is extremely good, and it has a speaker phone on the back side, and the speaker has a great sound quality too. It has not interferes with my PC’s wireless network compare to the 2.4GHz phones that I have. It has many useful features, CID, CWID, setup different ringer tone for different person, so you can tell who is calling even without look the CID.

Overall, this is a very beautiful, well-built, and feature-packed cordless phone.

Strengths: Sound clarity on both earpiece and handset speakerphone, no more interference from wireless network, build quality
Weaknesses: Reduced voice quality on receiving party, funky headset-handset switch problem
Summary: I have had trouble using 2.4GHz cordless phone since I set up my wireless access point in my home. I heard that Uniden was good so I bought this model on a local sale. It proves that the 5.8GHz cordless phone is indeed immune from the interference from my wireless network.

This phone soon became my favorite phone in the house. As a "listener" I enjoy the great voice clarity from the other party, be the voice delivered off the handset earpiece or the handset speakerphone. However, as a "speaker" I've got slight complaint from the other party that my voice isn't so good as my old 2.4GHz Panny phone. I did a comparison test myself by calling into my voice mail from this and another cordless phone. It turned out that the Uniden indeed has a muffled voice quality as if it was called from a cell phone. Multiple cross tests confirm this reduced voice quality on the receiving end. I'd hope that both myself and the other other would enjoy the same great voice quality, though.

Another minor demerit about this phone is, if you switch between "talking through a headset" (plugged in to the handset) and "talking directly with the handset" a couple of times during a call, the handset earpiece will go mute even without the headset plugged in. You will have to make another call and do the handset-headset switch on-the-fly again to get the earpiece back. I am not sure if everyone's handset gets the same problem, but I just put it down here in case someone went into this trouble and doesn't know how to fix it.

After 4 months of use there is another problem coming up with the handset. Sometimes the earpiece goes muted (volume down till complete silence) so I can't hear the other party, in the mean time the other party can still hear me loud & clear all right. When it does it usually happens about 10 - 15 minutes into the conversation, regardless who initiated the call. I am checking with Uniden and see if they have a solution for this issue. Perhaps I just got a bad sample.

Strengths: Transferrable phone book from one handset to other. Saves time in that you do not have to manually put numbers into another handset, but can just copy from one handset to another.
Weaknesses: You cannot prepend numbers and if you have the answering machine model, will not light up to indicate a message if you use voice mail.
Summary: Great phone for the value. We own 4 handsets! First reasonably priced phone that I have seen that allows you to transfer the phone book from one phone to another. 100 number memory is also a great feature! Easy handset registration if you transfer to another base unit as I did.

Strengths: clarity, no interference and range
Weaknesses: may be the battery
Summary: 2004-10-02 16:01:59 I am pretty happy with the clarity and range of this phone. I didn't get any handset yet. I was going to get at least 3 more handsets but the manual mentioned that the battery life is only about 1 year.

That sort of concerns me because I really don't want to pay for 4 new batteries every year.

Strengths: Easy to set up. Very clear. It does not interfere with the wireless network and microwave.
Weaknesses: No answer machine with it.
Summary: Overall, it is a nice phone at a reasonable price. You can expand the phone to 10 handsets and only one phone jack is needed. It will be perfect if it comes with digital answer machine.

Strengths: Speaker phone, mute, range, battery time
Weaknesses: volume while on speakerphone both hearing and speaking
Summary: I bought this phone because I started telecommuting a few days a week and needed a hands free solution while attending meetings all day. This phone has a speakerphone and mute option on the handset itself. To be honest I don't even really utilize too many of the wonderful options this phone includes.

I have to say, the sound quality and clarity is very high both using and not using speakerphone. I have had people comment on the improved quality and clarity when speaking as well. The range is great. Even bring it to the back of the yard or the street out front, I haven't actually managed to leave the area with it. The battery life is about 3 hours on speaker phone. My cell last about 1.5 hours on speakerphone, so I was very happy to see it lasted so long.

One thing that has been a bit of a problem is the fact that the speaker to the speakerphone is on the back of the handset. I have had a bit of trouble hearing when the handset is clipped to my belt. Even on max volume I find myself grabbing for the handset to hear what is being said. I have been told I sound like I am talking down a hall when I speak with the handset on my belt. That one is not really a bother since I usually have to un-mute the phone before I speak anyway. Really the only other thing I can even think of in the way of issues is the fact that when the phone is muted, it doesn't actually say it is muted. In the midst of everything else, I have lost track once or twice....We all know how embarrassing that can be....

Overall this phone is a fantastic deal. I don't get any of the interference from my wireless network that I did with the 2.4 GHz phone. It is expandable to include 9 additional units, but does not require anything more than what it comes with. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good quality phone at a reasonable price. As that goes, this phone is far better than any I ran across while researching, and hasn’t disappointed me with use.

Strengths: Tons of features, very clear, easy to set up
Weaknesses: Belt clip is strangely huge. Base could have a little more weight to it or it could have better system to keep it from sliding around on the surface it sits on.
Summary: I have looked around for a cordless phone for some time. I needed one that would not interfere with my home wireless network and microwave. This one did the trick and I am very happy with it. It has a load of features, I especially like the distinctive ring that lets me know is specific people are calling, its pretty cool.

Strengths: Compact base, 5.8Ghz Digital, easy to use menu
Weaknesses: Clock only displays in AM/PM, not 24 hours
Summary: I was looking for a cordless phone that was compact, 5.8 Ghz digital, and without a built-in answering machine. (With answering services from the telecom provider, I didn't see the need for one.) The sound is great, the menu is easy to use, and the range is adequate for my needs. The phone can be expanded to 10 handsets, but I only need this one, which is why I got this one instead of the 8860-2 model which comes with an extra handset.

Strengths: Can use it as a baby moniter Voices sound very clear on it
Weaknesses: So far, none, other than it is Uniden. (we've had bad luck with Uniden in the past, but they were all cheaper phones, so, we'll see)
Summary: This phone works very well. The additional handsets take up very little room and it's nice to have the phone were you want it, rather than where the phone company put the outlet. The battery lasts for a looong time, voices are very clear, almost like the person is in the room with you, and the speaker phone is great. I love that I can use it as a baby moniter. Unlike a baby moniter, there is no staticy noise when listening to it, no feed back. I can't comment on it's range, because we haven't tried going to far with it, but so far, no problems in our two story house or yard.

Strengths: I like how well it was to sync up and work with the base unit I got 3 months ago.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: This is a great addition to the base unit....so easy to sync up and great instructions. I would recommend this line of phones if you want a 5.8 gHz phone.
