Strengths: Great Quality, Value, Excellent Picture, Ease of use!
Weaknesses: Short zoom range, fan isn't silent.
Summary: I purchased and ceiling mounted my PT-L500U in a basement home theater room. The projector is approximately 10' from my 92" diagonal 16:9 High Contrast Matt White screen. The picture is awesome. As most of you know the issues with LCD projectors are contrast and screen door effect. I consider the screen door issue to be very minor, especially from my optimal seating approximately 12' from the screen. The contrast is also very acceptable, especially in my basement room with minimal natural light. Finally pixelation is acceptable, with only minor issues from fast motion, water, snow etc.
I normally use the unit with an LG LST-3510 HDTV/DVD player using DVI output. The quality is very very good. I am very happy, especially with HDTV programming. I have also used the projector with RGB output from my laptop. Computer output is great also, including HD/DVD output.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to compare other projectors in my home theater, but I can honestly say I would definately purchase this projector again and would highly recommend it for a home theater application.
