Strengths: Sony brand and technology used (SXRD) - video settings on a per input basis, extra bulb, styling,
Weaknesses: None so far - although I do wish the speakers where bottom mounted
Summary: I researched reviews and viewed many TVs at various brick and mortar stores. My decision was down to Sony and JVC - both used variations of the L-COS technology. JVC was eliminated because the video setting were not on a per input basis.

The picture quality is excellent for a set this size - my sources are an up-converting DVD player and HD via digital cable (the cable card slot is nice, saves a few $$ with the cable company).

It was a bit of a toss up between the XBR2 and A2000 models. I decided to go with the XBR2 as the price difference was down to about $500 and the XBR2 included an extra bulb plus the addition features of twin picture, cable card slot, brighter bulb.

3 Star ReviewREAD THIS BEFORE YOU BUY
Strengths: Bright, extra bulb, beautiful screen, 3 HDMI 1080p connections.
Weaknesses: composite connections in the front, speakers are ok, Twin view useless. TVguide is useless unless used with cablecard or direct cable.
Summary: I bought this TV because of all the good ratings, but it turns out that many of its features are useless unless you have a cablecard because the STB won't do.

The thing I hate the most is, you can't use the twin view with both digital connections one of them has to be an analog connection either from the Ant or from the composite cable.

Sony is suppose to move to the future not backwards.

Ya the screen quality is great on HD channels but other wise the analog channels look like crap but thats not the TV's fault.

Also remember the future!!! PC connection with VGA!! atleast have DVI ......But thats ok I hooked the PC to the HDMI connection and was able to use full 1080P and it looks great and the screen is completely covered unlike with the VGA connection and oh ya the games will blow you away through the HDMI. Oh in the guide book Sony does advise you not to hook the PC with the HDMI but I've been doing it since NOV and I have had no problems what so ever.

one more thing be sure to do custom setting on the picture otherwise you will use your bulb faster than expected.

The TV is great and since I didn't pay nearly as much as others I can live with the draw backs of the TV but I just hope there were better reviews of the TV that covered its flaws in detail.

I give it 3 out of 5

Strengths: Clarity, features, style, color, contrast... you name it.
Weaknesses: No computer 1080p signal and only 1080i through Component.
Summary: It has everything you could want in a TV. The clarity is that of none other. LCD's have a problem with pixeling when there is motion. Not this screen... SXRD seems to have solved the problem. What is interesting is this giant TV isn't that heavy! I was able to get it up 3 stories without more than one other person. Back to the TV. 1080i looks incredible because this TV upconvert and also accepts true 1080p signals. The only thing I must inform people is that if you are going to try and use your computer on this TV, it doesn't accept HDMI only component at 1080i, but it does upconvert so it looks nice still. HD content is unexplainable. Its like I am watching TV for the first time, like going from black and white to color. It is amazing I can see everything... even things you don't want to see, like pores and pimples on people faces. its awesome. I lay in bed at night and just stare into the TV realizing I don't care whats going on, just what i can see... the details in the grass and sharpness of edges and the contrasts. If you are going to buy a TV. This one is killer, with adjustments this TV surpasses any other on the market. Period. Buy it, you won't be sorry. (With the xbox360 now in 1080p with firmware update and the ps3 and Wii, 1080p is going to be the standard... did I mention Blu-Ray and HD-DVD?) Buy this and you will love it. I do.

Strengths: Brightest picture of any rear projection TV that I have seen.
Weaknesses: The speakers are on the sides of the screen making the unit unnecessarily wide.
Summary: In comparing rear projection TV's (including previous Sony models), I didn't notice much of a difference in the brightness of the different units. This year, Sony went from a 120 watt to a 180 watt projector bulb. The difference in brightness is very noticable. The picture is awesome.

The bulb has an estimated life of 4,000 hours (about 3 years if used 4 hours per day). Sony includes a spare projector bulb ($299 value) which I think is an added benefit.

Putting the speakers on the side adds about 8 inches to the width of the unit. While that placement probably makes for better stereo sound, I greatly prefer the speakers below the screen so that the TV fits into the room better.

Strengths: Great picture, won't fade over time like plasma TVs, cheaper than same-size plasma TVs, good viewing angles, no "rainbow effect" like DLP TVs.
Weaknesses: Side speakers make it wider than it needs to be. Most people will use a surround sound system anyway.
Summary: I thoroughly researched big screen TVs for several weeks before deciding on this model. The picture is absolutely fantastic and there a lot of other great features. At this time I do not believe there is a better choice for a big screen TV available for the price.

Strengths: picture quality secound to none, 1080p, Ready for PS3 3 HDMI inputs
Weaknesses: No memory card slot in front
Summary: I owned the 50" BR1 before this BR2. This is the best picture I have seen check out the picture from the sides it does not lose it's brightness like the DLP.

Strengths: Color, Contrast, Vividness, Clarity, Sound, Picture, extra features (Picture and Picture, Freeze Mode, etc.)
Weaknesses: So-so Standard Definition picture quality
Summary: I love my Sony KDS-R60XBR2. First off, I also have Comcast Digital Cable and I use a Comcast DVR, I have a Insignia 6.1 Surround Sound Home Theater System, and a Playstation 3.

This TV is amazing when it comes to High Definition. I get 1080i signal on HD shows from Comcast and the TV up-converts the signal to 1080p which makes the picture fantastic. The color, clarity, sharpness.... AMAZING!

This TV also has many great features like a Freeze function and Split-screen Picture and Picture. It also has a ton of customizable settings so you can adjust it to your liking.

The only drawback I've found on this TV is that Standard Def shows have some screen-noise and isn't that clear. But, with some setting changes, it's not bad. And besides, all HDTV have this issue. Luckily, more and more HD shows are becoming available.

This TV, in my opinion, is the best. When I watch High Def shows or play High Def games on my PS3, I'm blown away. Add a Home Theater Surround Sound System, and you're in heaven. I've done months of research trying to find the best HDTV, and I chose this. I highly recommend it!

Strengths: Bright Picture, wide angle viewing, vivid colors, easy front connections. Well desgined.
Weaknesses: No memory card slot or S-video in the front.
Summary: I mean WOW. This is a fabulous picture TV, rivals other LCD and Plasma flat panels. You can adjust the brightness, very helpful when watching at night in the dark. The picture is very clear and crisp. I was looking at the XBR1 just earlier this year and thought it was great, but this XBR2 is even 100% better particularly with the wide viewing angle, I figured about 160-170 degrees angle. Go look at the picture at your local store and you'll see for yourself. If you have the space I highly recommend this as you will get more bang for your buck in comparison with a same size LCD or Plasma. Best viewed with HDTV. Watching regular DVD is even more outstanding and enjoyable. I like the various color modes that you can change at the push of the button.

I have been researching large screen TVs for over a year and this is the best I have found for a projection TV and as I said rivals the LCD and Plasma. Sony has come a long way with their signal and color processing engine.

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT, you won’t regret it.

Strengths: Picture clarity, multidue of inputs and input options including 3 HDMI's, setting adjustments, easy intuitive menu
Weaknesses: Wide speakers on the side make it wider than it needs to be
Summary: We love this TV, the picture quality is great with many options for adjusting to your viewing conditions and preferences. The menu is very intuitive, and you have all of the input options you could want. It is a little bigger than we thought it would be now that we have it in our basement, but we're getting use to it, and loving it. I would recommend it to anyone as long as you have the space. We researched TVs thoroughly on various sites on the net and this TV rated very high. It is all that it was billed to be. You will be happy with this TV.

Strengths: - Deep black -Best picture available -Great TV Guide -extra lamp -loads of digital connections
Weaknesses: -unable to upconvert to 1080p from PC -finding a non-sony stand for this tv is a pain given the size of the tvr about
Summary: Well I've had this tv for 4 weeks now, I can say I absolutely love it. The pictures on this tv are excellent, black are deep. The speakers that come with the tv are decent, but you will want to get surround sound for this tv. One should note that if you are using the PS3 as your dvd player, tow thing to note: you need to buy an HDMI cable designed for the PS3 as most will not work (the monster or the sony cable are both good). Also if you are playing file from your computer through a dvi to hdmi cable you will not be able to get 1080p resolution as this only comes through a pure hdmi to hdmi connection. Also there a lot of calibration feature available of this tv in terms of picture, but for the most part it's good to go right out of the box. For the movie buffs, do yourself a favor spring for the speaker and the blue ray drive, you won't regret it.

Strengths: Great Picture, Plus it has 3 HDMI inputs.
Weaknesses: Does support X-360 1080p support, but has great picture w/ Playstation 3
Summary: I love this television which Sony has. I would recommend this television to anyone. Best Picture & Sound. Full 1080 HD, I have purchased a Sony Playstation which has Blu-ray & best picture for movies.

2 Star ReviewNot too sure
Strengths: 1080p Inputs
Weaknesses: picture?? No more 'favorites' previews!
Summary: Help me out, please! I owned the 50" xbr1 and was blown away by the picture! Everyone that saw my tv in action commented on how it was the 'best picture they had ever seen'. I expected the newer model to, once again, blow me away. Instead, I am highly dissapointed in the picture of the xbr2 !! I have adjusted the picture every way possible, and still don't think it compares to the older xbr1 picture. Please tell me how you have your settings! I just don't find the picture to be near as bright or crisp as the older model.

The only reason I upgraded to this tv was because I wanted the 1080p inputs. Now I wish I had my old tv back.

And, why did they get rid of the 'favorites' button from the remote? And, how come you can no longer see a preview of your 'favorites' channels!? Pretty much makes the 'favorites' option useless now!

3 Star ReviewCareful down the road
Strengths: Great picture, controls, and inputs
Weaknesses: I had a 60
Summary: When Sony replaced the set the warranty was the remainder left on the XBR1....wow 3 months. This time the repair will cost me. The extended service wont apply because it is a different replacement.
