Strengths: A great point and shoot camera. Has more controls than I can shake a stick at, or just go auto and let the camera do it's thing. Pictures are great and the camera is very easy to use.
Weaknesses: Only complaint I have is the camera needs a hot shoe.
Summary: For the price you can't go wrong unless you are a professional. For the average picture taker this is a very nice camera. I would recommend this to anyone.

Strengths: Very easy to use
Weaknesses: Manual lens cap
Summary: This camera is great! It is so easy to use and isn't too small or too big. I'd prefer an auto lens cap instead of the manual that comes with the camera. That is very minor though. The features are plentiful and are pretty much self explanatory when using. The pics are so well defined. Don't leave on the highest setting unless your taking a portrait because high res takes up a lot of memory. Buy additional memory cards. Even in lower res, the pics are just fine. For this price I doubt you can find a better buy.

Strengths: Lots of features.
Weaknesses: Broke in two days.
Summary: The little piece of plastic that holds the battery in place cracked. Not all impressed with the engineering and poor construction, should not easily break merely just opening the lid to insert a different SD card.

Strengths: Nice pictures.
Weaknesses: Battery latch broke the second time I tried to open it.
Summary: Exactly 26 hours after I recieved my camera, the little piece of plastic that holds the battery in place

cracked. I only opened the battery slot twice. I am so disappointed. I mean, who knows what else is going to break next. Kodak should examine its quality control procedures. When I contacted the customer service, they told me that I am responsible for half of the shipping charges. What a scam?

3 Star ReviewGreat pics! Mfg quality?
Strengths: Easy to use Great picture quality
Weaknesses: Manual lens cap Battery lock breaks often
Summary: I bought this camera back in February but writing about it now.

I no longer own this camera for the reason at the end of this review.

I did my reasearch and read reviews and this came out as a great buy for the features (6 megapixels + SD card) and user results.

I agree that this does take great pictures and is easy to use. They apparently went to a lot of trouble to make the on-screen menu easy to use because most of the features are self-explanatory; you really don't need the manual unless you start getting into some less commonly used features (i.e. what changing the white level does).

The ergonomics are pretty good, most of the features/ functions can be easily accessed with your right thumb and most of the ones that can't, shouldn't be (like the power button).

I've noticed that some reviews didn't like the grip of the camera. I agree that a larger grip would have made the camera more comfortable and secure while shooting, I think it would have made it unacceptibly large for a point and shoot; it seems that Kodak decided to split the difference and put a rubberized grip but made it small (win-win situation?).

Now for the negatives -

It bothered me to have a manual lens cap on the camera and having it dangle around while I was shooting (this is a MINOR quibble).

I've actually gone through two of these cameras in two months because the orange lock that holds the battery in place kept on breaking for no apparent reason. Each camera was brand new, the locks worked fine when I used them the first time, the cameras were never beaten, dropped or otherwise abused in any way.

When I returned the camera the second time, an employee told me that they've gotten back a lot of Kodak's for this reason (I don't know if it's a problem with this model or certain Kodak's).

I've since purchased a Nikon Coolpix 7600 with no problems.

Summary -

Great pictures, easy to use but reliability may be an issue.

Strengths: Soooo nice to use -easy operation - great results!
Weaknesses: Find it a little small to be totally comfortable.
Summary: 2005-08-23 06:41:55 This is my third digital camera purchase and the best one by far. My first was an early Kodak Digital, next a Canon and now back to Kodak. I find this camera gives really excellent results with a minumum of fuss which is especially handy when photographing in the field. The close up has given me the ability to accuratly photograph small obects with great clarity. LOVE THIS CAMERA!

2 Star ReviewAwesome Camera, Poor Manufactuer
Strengths: Ease of Camera, beautiful picures
Weaknesses: Kodak's poor customer service as well as their repair shop's rudeness and unprofessionalism.
Summary: The camera is wonderful, the maker, Kodak, as well as their repair company, United Camera, is very unprofessional and frustrating to work with. I bought this camera about a year ago at a very discounted price. It was the only one at the large retail store I purchased it from so I was under the impression it was either a return, 'last one' item, display model, etc. I bought it and thoroughly checked it out when I got home. There were a couple very minor looking external blemishes, but the camera worked perfectly. About 4 months after that, the auto-focus and the sound stopped working. I contacted Kodak and they told me to send it in and informed me the turn around time would be about 5 days. I sent it to United Camera as I was instructed to, and about 3 weeks later I received and invoice for $100. I contacted them and they refused to fix it due the external blemishes that, unknown to me, voided my warranty. United Camera was very rude and unprofessional about it, so I contacted Kodak. They wanted absolutely nothing to do with my situation and refused to work with me either. In the end, I contacted the store I purchased it from and they offered to pay for the repair. The camera is absolutely wonderful, and I love it. However, pray that you never have to deal with Kodak or United Camera in an awkward position because they have customer service that is way below acceptable.

I will never be making a large purchase from Kodak again.

Strengths: Light weight, easy to use and a lot of extras that make using this camera fun.
Weaknesses: Have yet to take a good picture inside a viewing barn during the summer 4H activities. It seems they all turn out way to dark. But I could be doing something wrong.
Summary: Last summer and fall I toured the Boundary Water Canoe Area in Minnesota on several occasions taking this new fangled digital camera along. I also took my trusty Canon EOS Rebel as well. I have to confess, the rebel was clicked only once. The Kodak did not have enough zoom to focus in of a pair of moose cows I spotted.

I found the camera fast, easy to use and quick to respond when turned on. I also loved the fact that I was able to take over 200 pictures (using a 512 card) and the battery was still ready to go.

As for picture quality. One of the pictures I took, enlarged to a 10 x 14 took first place at a local photo shops annual contest.

I recently used the included software to transfer my pictures to a DVD-WR and discovered that my wife and I have taken a total of 1100 plus pictures so far. I can’t wait till we head out to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks this coming spring.

In closing, this camera with a tripod or monopod is an unbeatable combination for taking pictures that you will be proud to show off.

Have a great summer and keep clicking everyone.

Strengths: Great photos, ease of use
Weaknesses: Orange battery clip latch keeps breaking, beware!
Summary: Just as all the others have stated, my camera has had the orange battery clip break two times so far. I bought this camera in Dec 2004 and I RArely use it...probably 14 days of use all year. I have taken the battery out only 6 times, and the clip broke two of those times!!! I am VERY careful with my camera. This is just a cheap part. The first time it happened was within the 30 day period that Target would take it back for a new one. They gave me a hard time though, so I would not rec. then for electronic buying. This last time was tonight and I now have to dig out my receipt again and try to mail in the camera. This sucks, it is a great camera except for this thing!

Strengths: GREAT CUSTOM AND ADVANCED/MANUAL FEATURES I STILL HAVE NOT FIGURED THEM ALL OUT!! USES WIDELY AVAILABLE AND CHEAP SD MEDIA I FOUND A 1GB CARD FOR ONLY $69.00
Weaknesses: ON THE OTHER SIDE IT DOES NOT USE NOR BENEFIT FROM HIGHER RATED FASTER SD MEDIA. STARTUP TIME IS GREAT AVAILABLE LENS ARE ALSO GREAT. 320*480 VIDEO IS VERY SMALL
Summary: I PUCHASES THIS CAMERA TO GO ON MY TRIP TO EUROPE FOR THREE WEEKS, I BOUGHT 3 EXTRA BATTERIES IN EBAY FOR $27.00 TOTAL!!! I ALSO BOUGHT A GB MEMORY CARD FOR $69.00 ON BUY.COM. I AM WAITING FOR THE TELEPHOTO, LENS ADAPTER, AND WIDEANGLE LENSES FROM AMAZON.COM.

THE AUTO FEATURES PRODUCE SUPERB IMAGES, THE MANUAL FEATURES ARE ENDLESS. THE OUTPUT FROM THIS CAMERA TO MY EPSON R200 ARE UNMISTAKABLE FROM A "NORMAL" 4X6 PRINT, I HAVE ALSO ENLARGED TO 8X10 AND STILL CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. BATTERIES CHARGE IN UNDER 3 HOURS AND LAST FOR AT LEAST A FULL DAY OF PICTURE TAKING.

Strengths: Outstanding, beautiful 4" by 6" and 8.5" by 11" pics. Very easy to use, was taking pictures within 30 minutes of reading the maual. Large 2.2" LCD screen for taking and viewing pics. Li-ion battery
Weaknesses: On off switch is a bit small, takes some getting use to. Lens cover is not attached. Only 3x optical.
Summary: This camera takes some fantastic pics, paired with my MP370 printer and premium glossy photo paper. It is extremely easy to operate, that was one of the reasons I went with it. 6.1 MP, 2.2" LCD screen, Li-ion battery, SD cards. I had a 1.3 MP camera before, Wow!!! what a difference. This camera won't let u take a bad pic. I would have liked to had more than a 3X optical zoom, but it still can get you close enough to the subject for the most part. The lens cap not being attached is also annoying, but I'll live. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase, this should do me for many years. Also u can print up to like 20" by 30" pics, where do u find a home printer that could print out a pic that large? Go out and buy this camera today.

Strengths: Small yet feature-packed. From stills to video with audio, easy automatic print and email settings, and money-saving rechargeable batteries make this nearly the best point-and-shoot digital camera.
Weaknesses: None that I can attest for a digital camer under $300.
Summary: 2004-12-03 04:51:58 For the average Joe, this is an exceptional camera. High-end pixelation, terrific macro shots, and numerous automatic settings help guide a novice to produce shots to be proud of! I am especially pleased with the online support that comes with each Kodak purchase such as downloads, updates, and help topics.

Strengths: ease of use, color, weight, zoom, manual capability ,additional lens, battery power, on and off switch, flash on and off. Great zoom
Weaknesses: size is alittle big. needs a better wrist strap and case that fits it when its carried.
Summary: we love it! We bought a sony and compared the kodak at the same time. the sony is smaller, but the kodak is super easy to use and the directions are easy to understand and follow.

Strengths: Big LCD screen, very easy to see and great resolution. 16 Really useful picture modes. Camera is larger than others in it's class but surprisingly easy to hold. Great video mode for a digital camera.
Weaknesses: Sometimes slow to respond after taking a picture. Difficult to capture movement in 'AUTO' mode without a blur.
Summary: I've taken this camera to a wedding, the beach, and to a theme park. I am very happy with the sharpness of the pictures and versatility of the options. The video is very clear and is not as jumpy as other cameras I've used. I did have some trouble with the auto focus in low light, long distance shots (over 50') but all in all, this camera is a great value!

Strengths: Ease of use, versatile features
Weaknesses: Lack of after market accessories
Summary: 2004-08-21 00:04:39 At a freinds recommendation I bought my KODAK because I was so mad at the NIKON I purchased. From shot one the KODAK did everything perfectly, every bad photo I did on purpose and the camera just did what it was set to do. The ease of use and quality of the photos are just perfect. The movie feature is awesome for such a little unit. If you want a good camera that will not let you down here it is, if you want to pay a lot of money based on hype and company name there is a NIKON 8700 out there with your name on it. But you will be sorry!!! Just a small side note, I like the KODAK so much I bought three more for family members.
