Strengths: Great multiplayer mayhem. Interesting weapons and some of the best maps of any multiplayer game. Looks great. Plays great. Large community
Weaknesses: More free for all and less tactical.
Summary: Unreal Tournament is a great Multiplayer Game. First, it has some of the most interesting maps of any Multiplayer game ever. They're original, inventive, and beautiful. Further, the great thing about a match in UT2004 is all the modifiiers you can play with. You can change nearly everything. How high players jump, how much damage a weapon does, what power ups are available. Few games have as much customization in it.
The gameplay is quick, easy, and great. There are always players about and you cna play with large groups or small. You can play as a team or in free for all. One thing I like about UT2004 is that the focus is on fun, and not necessarily any specific mechanic or concept like more traditional multi ganmes such as Battlefield or Counter Strike.
But that brings about its only weakness. It doesn't have a specific tactical style like CS or BF. That's not neccessarily a bad thing. But many people do like that realism or reliable gameplay style which keeps them going back for more. That can make UT2004 at times seem like more of a pick-up game than anything else. But it's still loads of fun and one of the best.

Strengths: dvd saves install time
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This game is great. Reviews are accurate. Very nice graphics. Especially nice on DVD. Why can't all games come this way? Everyone should have a DVD drive by now.

Strengths: +Visually Wonderful +FUN +Many Game Types +Lots of fan made content
Weaknesses: None
Summary: As any user can go to countless locations on the internet to find an explanation of the game, I'll try and stick to just my personal opinions and such. Hope you already know what the game is about.
This is an awesome game and definietly one to own, highly recommended. There, that's out of the way.
As if numerous game modes, intelligence bots, and a slick online experience were enough there is a key piece of this game that can keep the replay value good an high: custom content.
If you dont like the characters to choose from, you can probably find a home-made one on the net for you to use. Or if you want new levels, new game modes, or flat out entire modifications that change the whole game they are avalible for you to use for free.
What makes the DVD version of UT2004 special over the CDROM version, aside from not needing many discs for installation, is the inclusion of a teaching system to let anyone learn how to make custom content. Using videos to walk a user through the process of doing just about everything, its easy to learn.
Oh, and the game is a veritable load of fun, many loads even. Get this game.

It's a $2000 game.
Strengths: Visuals. (The artists s/b commended.)
LOTS of 'games' embedded within the game.(more bang for the buck)
SMP aware!(can use dual CPUs, probably dual core too)
Has lots of vehicles too(not boring).
Weaknesses: PROGRAMMING CODE BLOAT. Install is over 5GB. Game play uses ~500MB RAM and ~60% of 2GHz. Is this written in VB script?
Ordering bots by voice or keyboard.
Violence.(where's the "game"?)
Summary: It's a $2000 game. UT2004 requires so much CPU, RAM and video card raw power that user will have to upgrade almost the entire system just to use it without getting massive headaches. Currently, I have dual 1GHz PIII CPUs(2GHz total), 1GB SDRAM & a nVidia 5700 graphics card with 128MB video DDR RAM, etc. The system bottleneck is the 100MHz FSB with AGP2x. I had planned an upgrade since last year but prices were too high then. It still is costing $1500(minimum), reusing some of my current components. And, frankly, I do not know if the new system, which is at least 3x as powerful as the current, will be able to handle this game. If you cannot reuse components, it will cost you two grand USD. (I also priced a Dell XPS that should work; it was ~$1850 but w/o quality 5.1 speakers.) If you expect to really *play* this game, expect to buy *new* system components too(unless you have a new, this year(2005), system). At a minimum, you'll need a PCI-E bus video card with 256MB of DDR3 RAM. Get 512MB and/or SLI if you can afford it. Lowering the graphics settings in this game really do not help very much. I get about the same QOP at 1600x1200 as I do at 800x600 and 800x600 is *UGLY*, IMO. This game requires no less than 1024x768 res on a normal monitor( 1280x1024 on a 19" ) to really enjoy it. I have a "3D" joystick so I can use one hand with games. I cannot use it because the 3rd axis(twist=turn) is too slow and/or erratic. These folks need to talk to the Descent3 people. Their interface for setting up mouse, keyboard & joystick controls is pretty good. AUDIO surround is not as good as expected and, ithink, causes the system to crash. I have had three crashes, one requiring a HARD RESET. Finally, the user interface for selecting what game to play is dumb. It shows a slide show of the game landscape but does not show the map. ALL the game choices are by map. If you do not know what the map is, you cannot determine if the game is playable. It really boggles my mind as to why these game programming people release software that they know in advance will not work on any but the fastest and most expensive systems available at the time of the release(this was released 2 years ago). Reports are that Quake4 and Doom3 are even worse. Since UT2007 is in the works, expect to be able to play it on a normal system in about 2010... (but I won't buy it).

Strengths: great graphics, many game modes, varied weapons
Weaknesses: no single player game to speak of
Summary: First thing first - this is a multi-player first person shooter game. If you don't want to play against other people on the internet then this game is not for you. You can play alone against bots but that's not the point of this game.
And it's not just one multi-player game, its like SIX different multi-player games in one. There is traditional Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch where you (or your team) try to get as many kills as possible.
There is Capture the Flag, where two team compete against each other to defend their flag and capture the other teams flag. This is one of my personal favorites... I used to play CTF as a Quake 2 mod.
There is Domination where two teams compete against each other to control the same two positions on the map for 10 seconds.
There is Bombing Run where two team compete against each other is a soccer style game. This was one of the more unique games to me. There's one "ball" and the player controlling the ball cannot fire. You can shoot the ball away (hopefully to other team mates) and together make for the other teams goal.
There is Assault where one team defends and another team attacks. The attacker must achieve an objective in order to move onto the next phase (and a new objective) and the defender tries to stop them. Then each team switches roles for the next round.
Then there is Onslaught... This mode has each team battle for control points on the map. You can only capture a control point that is adjacent to one you already control. The first team to control all the points wins. This mode includes vehicles and aircraft.
I have never experienced a game that includes so many different games right out of the box. Usually, you get one or two games and then independent mods will be created. Here you get all these games, and still there are mods out there for the game - like a WW2 squad combat mod.
The gameplay is fast. The graphics are great. The DVD edition eliminates the need for 7 CDs. The weapons are a combination of familiar ones (Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Mingun/Chain gun, Rocket Launcher) and new ones (Flak gun, Lightening Gun, Shield Gun, Shock Rifle, Mine Layer, Bio Rifle, Link Gun and more). Each gun has a secondary mode too which make for a lot of different firepower - It can be overwhelming at first about how to best use each gun.
If you enjoy multiplayer first person shooter, then you must get Unreal Tournament 2004... It's a great game(s)!

Strengths: Great graphics, gameplay as nice as before
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I last played Unreal Tournament back when it was just Unreal Tournament. It was a great game back then, even though the graphics weren't quite up to snuff with the other popular multiplayer frag-fest of the time, Quake 3 Arena. With Unreal Tournament 2004, that has been corrected. While there are new weapons and powerups, which is expected, there are few major changes other than a graphical upgrade. Which is great.
Fans of the old Unreal games will love this one in a hurry, and it's a pretty good grab for any PC gamer looking for an FPS fix.

Strengths: Great graphics, diverse gametypes, impressive weapons and vehicles
Weaknesses: Large amount of HD space needed for install
Summary: Unreal Tournament 2004 is the latest entry in the Unreal series of FPS games. It gets a nice graphical upgrade, additional weapons, and the additional of vehicles into the action. Between all the upgrades and the ability to do LAN or Internet play, it makes for some impressive gameplay, though it does take quite a bit of hard drive space. With all the upgrades, any fans of the UT series should get this game without hesitation.

Strengths: So diverse, so many different game maps, weapson, fun as heck
Weaknesses: Atari does not store patches on their website, must go to third party websites. Requires huge amount of hard drive space.
Summary: I love this game. I never thought I would like first person shooters. First I tried Serious Sam and I love that. Then I tried UT2004 and I was hooked. There are so many diffrent games, weapons, vehicles. The single person is great and so is the multiplayer. I originally purchased the CD version of the game but you have to swap 6 different disks to get it installed. I really prefer the single DVD. The added bonus is the 2nd DVD has tutorials which I need.

A high rated game.
Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I have yet to play this game, and I will update when I do, so I hope you editors out there allow this to be accepted. But from what I hear, it is top-notch with crazy and fun vehicles. And I love vehicles in a game like this.

Strengths: DVD provides quick install.

Summary: Awesome game. Get the DVD edition if you have a DVD drive. It'll save you lots of time installing. Graphics are great. An excellent fragfest! You can find it for about the same price as the CD version.

Strengths: I really like the ease of install. There is no switching between 5 CD's. I definitely recommend the DVD Install Version.
Weaknesses: This requires a decently fast PC to run. However, I suppose that was listed on the system requirements, so no fault but my own.
Summary: Unreal Tournament 2004 is a great game to play. Not only fun on its own, but when you add in new maps and other MODS, that is when things really take off. I would definitely recommend the DVD version because of the ease of install. No CD's to change. I had borrowed a friends copy of this game a while back, and now he wants me to return it. I decided the purchase of this game is a MUST! It is very fun to play, especially in multiplayer. I would buy this game again any day of the week. Graphically an improvement over previous versions, good AI as well.
