Strengths: Onkyo brand, HDMI, smart DVD player with versatile playback, HDMI cable supplied, Wall mountable speakers with no $$ mounts needed
Weaknesses: No SACD playback in DVD player(but compatible receiver if U get one later), No fancy but usually useless additions like alarms, karaoke etc.
Summary: I researched a lot (just like most others who have bought this have) and this is the best system for its cost. Onkyo, first of all rates very highly among consumer reviews due to its durability and quality of parts. No fancy gizmo's here but awesome quality of sound. It also has HDMI compatibilty (2in, 1out), progressive, upscaling DVD player and some serious sound. Now , way to cheap for an audiophile who wants to spend $$$$ on tube amps and like. Optimum buy for cost and quality. For little more quality U will have to spend a lot more.

Also saves some buck for speaker stands as they can directly be directly wall mounted with the cushion that they provide with these.

Over all would surely but again, in fact made 2 of my friends buy it too.

Strengths: Everything you need in the box! Good quality, lots of features.
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: Very nice and clean looking system - speakers are awesome sounding. I finally have a true 5.1 system. Speakers are key slotted to allow easy wall mounting - no need to by expensive brackets. Lots of inputs and outputs on the receiver. This comes in a big heavy box - be sure to find someone who offers free shipping!

Strengths: The HDMI dual inputs, 3 optical audio inputs, and 3 component inputs
Weaknesses: The dvd player seems to chop off about an inch on both sides of the movie playing
Summary: The sound is superb. Be prepared to learn all about audio/video connections & sound/video options. Its easy to install and hook up to the tv. All of the cables are color coated to match the back of the speaker and receiver for quick and easy set up. All around great system.

Strengths: HDMI switching capability!!
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I cant say enough about this system. For the price, there is not a better system on the market. The sound is crisp, clear, deep, and room filling!! The bass response from the sub-woofer is really nice. The receiver includes two HDMI "in" ports and one HDMI "out" port. So, I have my satelite receiver and DVD player hooked into the receiver HDMI "in" ports and have my plasma display hooked to the HDMI "out" port. This setup allows for easy HDMI switching. This sound system makes my plasma display truly feel like a theater experience. The system also sounds great playing CD music. Also, the system is capable of running an iPod with an optional docking station. Would recommend to anyone and would definately purchase again!!

Strengths: Great sound with very flexible video and audio inputs and outputs
Weaknesses: Does not upconvert component, s-video and composite video inputs to HDMI; 5.1 and not 7.1 surround sound.
Summary: This system provides all you need to set up a high-quality home theatre. The up-converting HDMI DVD player is excellent, and the 230W powered sub-woofer is awesome. 110W per channel x 5 is more than adequate for most needs. The front and rear speakers are not too small, but are flat and can easily be hung on a wall. Receiver menus can be displayed on TV as well. Sounds as good as components costing twice as much.

Strengths: This system has a multitude of inputs for various media sources. The ease of operation, and overall sound quality are astonishing. The 2 HDMI inputs and the HDMI output make this one of the best!!!!
Weaknesses: The DVD player included seems to cut about an inch off of each movie when viewed in upscaling HD
Summary: I don't think that you will find a better performing system, with eqaul features for the same amount of money anywhere. This system combined with a HD TV allows you to maximize your movie experience.

Strengths: Lots of inputs including HDMI Switching capability. The XM Radio feature is outstanding and worked with my old (previously installed) Audiovox XM Antenna.
Weaknesses: Somewhat tough to set-up properly. Menus on the TV has to have a RBG cable hookup to work properly.
Summary: I replaced a Samsung Surround Sound/Home Theater System with this Onkyo HT-S894 System. I did not know what I was missing by using the smaller surround system. This is a great set-up for a small or large viewing area. I would highly recommend this HTS to anyone who wants good audio, surround, DVD player, and HDMI switching capabilities.

Strengths: Balance of the features and sound
Weaknesses: Only 2 HDMI inputs
Summary: Replaced my 8 year old Onkyo receiver and mismatched JBL / Kenwood / Infinity 5.1 speakers with this bad boy. Let me tell you that I am not one bit disappointed. The setup I had before was really good and blew away most of my friends and family's systems. However, with the addition of my HDTV, an upconvert HDMI DVD player, a component/HDMI DVD recorder, etc... the system just didn't have the connections that I really needed. Started looking at every system out there and found myself coming back to this home theater in the box deal. After looking at it first hand at a local store, I dropped my earlier decision to get a 5.1 JBL speaker system and separate Onkyo receiver and bought this puppy through one of the online outlets via pricegrabber.com. I now have 2 upconvert DVD players due to the included unit from this system, but I do have to say that I really prefer the Onkyo DVD over my Samsung. It seems to have a lot less hang up's over different types of discs. The receiver puts out a bang and it was a breeze to set up. Still looking for a good set of speaker stands that I like and I'm still toying with replacing the included speaker wire with a better gauge. Other than that, if you're looking for a great system that doesn't require you to take out a second mortgage, you'd be a fool not to grab this system up at the price and quality combo that it has going for it.

Strengths: easy to set-up otb. better than any sony/panasonic. as good as a bose and a lot cheaper.
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: It comes with all the wires/cables to set up a complete Home theater. I love the hdmi input/outputs on the receiver. Gives me more options. Highly recommend it.

Strengths: Great sounding speakers...a lot of bang for the buck. 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output.
Weaknesses: Speakers are a little larger and heavier than other models. No automatic speaker configuration.
Summary: This is the second Onkyo home theater system I've purchased because I really like the first one. It's a little cumbersome to set up since there is no auto speaker configuration but the sound is great and it's a nice system for this price range.
