Strengths: Detects X, K, Ka, Laser and POP; VG-2 Immunity (detector detectors); 4 filters with 3 City filters; Allows you to program preferences

Weaknesses: Doesn't have new Ku band - not much of issue in U.S. at the moment

Summary: I've been using this detector for a couple of months now and love it. The last one I had was a Whistler that had many false positives. This one has great filtering and consistently picks up the cops in my area with much better range than my old one. The only thing that puzzles me about it is that the laser detection goes off quite more than my old one when there aren't any cops around. Not sure if you can get false positives with laser. Possibly might be result of increasing popularity of laser jammers on other vehicles. Either way, with laser I'd rather it be overly sensitive since you don't have much time to react with laser and since the detected beam is only inches compared to feet with radar. Overall, I highly reccommend this radar detector if you are going to spend less than $200.

Good radar detector

Strengths: Long range detection, volume adjustments.

Weaknesses: X band chirp

Summary: This is an excellent radar detector. After doing some thorough research and not wanting to spend a lot of money on higher end radar detectors, I purchased this Beltronics unit and it has performed quite admirably. It has saved me from at least two to three tickets already. It does pick up X band chirp when driving near stores, but that is found exclusively with almost all radar detectors out there. All in all, an excellent buy.

BEL Vector 955 Radar/Laser/Safety Detector

Strengths: Programmable, uses buttons instead of thumb-wheels for volume.

Weaknesses: RJ-11 power jack. Standard sub-par window mount.

Summary: I bought this detector for my wife. After reading several professional radar detector website reviews and comparisons, this one came out on top for value. It is identical to the now-defunct Radio Shack 895 which came in above many high-dollar detectors. The ability to program it is a definite plus. Voice alerts and auto-muting function work well. I also like using buttons instead of thumb-wheels for things like volume. I would like to see the ability to totally darken the display at night as the "dark" setting is still somewhat bright. The power jack is a standard telephone jack which was probably state-of-the-art back in the '70s but they should switch to a mini-USB port and utilize 5.5v power. The windshield mount is a standard suction-cup mount with the standard amount of play and inability to tilt or swivel the detector. Overall though, this is an excellent radar detector for the money!

Bel Vector 955

Strengths: Easy to set up

Weaknesses: Not loud enough.

Summary: I am very happy that I bought this product. Use it to commute to work and was fearful that I would hit a speed trap. Read alot of positive reviews and I am happy that I now own it. It is affordable and easy to set up. Would recomment it.
