Strengths: SUPER screen, MP3 player/FM Radio/Megapixel Camera, clear phone reception.
Weaknesses: No standard earphone jack for music/radio, must have hand free earphones connected for FM radio
Summary: The best phone I ever had, and I've gone through many. The screen is the best I've ever seen on a mobile device, period. The phone reception is great, even in those areas where my other phones have cut out (certain stretch of road, basement, etc..) T-Mobile service in Detroit. And, the MP3 player, FM radio, and camera each work very well so you don't have to carry individual devices (not best of bread but pretty good for an all-in-one device!). I printed a picture I took with the s700i on a Sony PictureStation (DPP-EX50) digital photo printer and the printout was as good as anything you get developed at the pharmacy. The bluetooth worked great with my PowerBook G4 (I was able to control my computer (mouse, MP3 player, etc) using the S700i bluetooth connection! How cool is that! (even if not all that practical, except maybe if you're using your mac for a presentation...) But, address book sync wasn't that easy to setup. You need to search on-line for instructions on how to do it.

My biggest complaint is the inability to use anything but Memory Stick Duo up to 128M. It's good enouph to carry a few tunes, but not good enouph for me to forget my MP3 player when I go on vacation. One less thing to carry around would have been great. Also, I would have liked to use my own earphones (no standard earphone jack, can only use hands-free ear buds for MP3/Radio), and I would liked to have been able to listen to the FM radio withouth the hands-free ear buds which double as the FM antena (the radio will not turn on at all unless you have the hands-free connected... one more thing to carry around). These are all minor issues considering you're buying a phone and not an entertainment device. But hey, if it's in there, it might as well work right.

In summary, it's a great phone with good reception and sound quality. And, you get a few good extras to keep you entertained on the road. Well worth the mony.

Strengths: Huge screen, easy menu access, wonderful camera, mp3 support, memory stick duo support.
Weaknesses: Speed in menu while viewing pictures.
Summary: 2005-04-29 08:10:32 This phone features a 1.3 Megapixel camera. The resolutions may go up to 1280x960. What I like about this is that the camera is good enough to be worth carrying around. The quality of the pictures are generally good, and excellent in well-lit areas. In darker areas, you may use its "flash." This "flash" is more like a beam of light that could be turned on and off by a slider on the side of the phone. This is better than my previous phones since the flash never takes place at the same time the picture is taken. The camera also has a few effects like black and white, sepia, solar, and negative. It also has spot-photometry, which focuses the light of objects centered on the screen. Picture sizes are around 200-300KB each, allowing the phone to capture more than a hundred pictures based on the phone memory itself.

This phone may also be used for MP3s. There's a 38MB built-in memory to go along with an additional memory stick. When purchased, a 32MB memory stick duo will be included. The maximum however, can only be upgraded to 128MB. Some of us may find this as a problem, but I think that this is fine. Personally, I wouldn't carry around so many MP3s just to take advantage of the phone. 128MB is enough to carry about 30 MP3s, but I don't find this necessary.

The Sony Ericsson S700i phone is like a software you buy from microsoft. As time passes, the company releases newer firmwares. These newer versions of the phone can upgrade your phone and make it better, based on the version improvements. The only thing I think they should improve on since the recent R3K004 firmware is to reduce the lagtime when accessing the picture folders.

The phonebook allows you to store more than 500 contacts and is easy to access. You may record up to a total of 30 seconds for voice-dialing, which aims at about 25-35 callers. You may add pictures to each and every entry and the huge screen will display these pictures like miracles rehappening.

The phone also supports bluetooth and infared, allowing you to connect to other devices.
