Strengths: Microphone quality is good, good sound quality from the headphone, long cord
Weaknesses: Construction seems a bit flimsy, ear padding might be irritating after wearing for a while
Summary: The Bottomline: For the price I paid ~$17 on amazon, this headphone/microphone is very good for the money.
I mainly bought this headset for use with dictation using Dragon Naturally speaking. I've been using this headset with Dragon for couple days now, and as I practice more and more, my accuracy improves from day to day. This means that my initial low accuracy (~75%) is not the fault of the microphone, but my dictation skills. I have also listened to the recorded file of my voice from Dragon (for training purposes) and the sound quality is pretty clear, words I said were crisp and clean, and there's no real background static.
First of all, I'm not an audiophile, but for me, the sound coming from the headphone is good for me. The bass is good, but the deep base sound is a bit lacking. Other than that, music coming from the headset sounds good.
As for the construction of the headset, it's a bit flimsy. The headphone speaker, kinda "dangles" from the headset, i think they engineered it this way, so it makes for a better fit for different head shapes, but nevertheless, it feels a bit "unsecured". Another thing is that the headphone sits on top of your ears, with foam padding as cushion. I wear glasses, and my ears hurts after couple of hours dictating, or listening to music. It's a bit better when I'm wearing contacts.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this headset, it does what I purchased it to do, and it does it well.
