Strengths: small size, large LCD screen, easy to use, quick startup
Weaknesses: not good for experts that want to tweak many lower level settings
Summary: The Casio Exilim cameras have always impressed me with their size, and this EX-Z70 is no different. It takes pretty good pictures, is very small, and easy to keep with you at all times. The thin form factor makes it easy to put in my pocket.

For me, a larger camera is not very useful, because I would hardly want to take it with me. I think this camera is perfect for taking with you out to dinner, hiking, etc, as it's barely noticeable in your pocket (it feels like having a cell phone in your pocket). This allows me to take pictures casually at any time.

However, if you want low-level control of the image settings, this is not the camera for you. Since I am just a casual photographer, I am happy using the various Best Shot modes in this camera. The Best Shot modes let you pic a setting such as "Night Scene", "Portrait", or "Scenery." There are nearly 30 best shot picture modes to allow you to easily have preconfigured settings for taking specific types of pictures.

Also, I was very impressed with the movie taking capability of this camera (VGA 640x480 at 30 frames per second). It works very well during the day, but gets blocky when there is not enough light (such as indoors at night). It's nice to not only be able to take pictures at any time, but also to take movies with sound. The length of the movie you record is limited by the SD card you use, so I'd recommend getting a 2 GB Secure Digital card for use in this camera.

Overall, I can't complain about much with this camera. I am very happy with it. It doesn't necessarily take the very best pictures (I think Canon and Sony's compact cameras might be slightly better), but the small size and price were the main factors that led me to get yet another Casio Exilim camera. I'd highly recommend this for someone who likes to have a small camera with them to take pictures at any time.

Strengths: The size is so small it fits in my pocket or purse.
Weaknesses: Have to remove battery to charge, can't charge while in the camera. Need to order optional battery cradle. My camera was packaged as a gift set with the camera case, strap, memroy card.
Summary: Camera came with photo software, not very versatile, had to use an existing product. Picture quality is very good. Lots of optional features, must read the manual to fully appreciate it. Even my husband, who purchased the camera for me and therefore dealt with the sales man, wasn't aware that it would take video.
