Strengths: Fast, Reliable, Easy Installation
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I have owned one of this card for about 18 Months. I installed it on an Intel Desktop board running P4 2.6 with 533MHz front Side bus. It has crashed about 3 times or so and I had to reinstall the OS (Win 2000 Pro). But I could not trace the crashes to the SCSI card, so I can't really say it was the fault of the card. But for the most part, this device and the whole system has run satisfactorily.

Right now on the market for a second one for my new P4 3.4GHz, 800FSB system!

Strengths: Works flawlessly with my crertance DDS drive
Weaknesses: Had to dowload new drivers for Windows XP
Summary: Thsi SCSi card works very well. You have to download the new drivers fro Windows XP, since the drivers shipped with the card are not compatible with XP. Also the SCSI EZ software can not be used with XP or NT so it is useless. Very reliable card

Strengths: This is a fast SCSI card that will handle all of your SCSI160 needs, but also support your investment in older, 50-Pin devices (while only using one PCI slot).
Weaknesses: The documentation is thin. It is virtually nonexistent for any planned upgrade without reinstalling the OS.
Summary: If you have any older, 50-Pin SCSI devices that you are not yet ready to give up, then this is a great card. It supports 50-Pin legacy devices internally AND externally. It also supports SCSI 160 (68-Pin LVD) devices internally. It is a great card with the Adaptec name and support staff to back it up. They helped me with a minor glitch during installation, and were great. (Be aware that OEM devices will not qualify for free tech support, but my retail kit was supported.)

Be warned... If you plan to upgrade the card to control your boot drive (and do not plan a reinstall of the OS in the process), be sure to install the AHA29160N card in a SEPARATE PCI Slot (even if you must temporarity yank out another card). Get the 29160N installed with drivers loaded and Device Manager reporting no problems. AFTER the card is installed, you may remove the old card, connect your boot drive to the 29160N and your OS will hum faster than before!!!
