Strengths: Easy recipes, easy cleanup, fast ice cream making, usually have the ingredients at home.
Weaknesses: Makes relatively small quantities but that is not necessarily bad. That is why I bought a "duo" or double model.
Summary: I have made ice cream several times and really love this machine. If I need ice cream for 4-5 people, I will only use one side; if more people, I will use both sides. If you love a CREAMY ice cream, rather than grainy, you will really like this ice cream maker. To me, it is as good or better than ice cream you can buy. I tried the butter pecan recipe also and it is FABULOUS! Only problem...I love the ice cream so much, it is easy to eat too much!

Strengths: Easy to use machine at a great low price.
Weaknesses: Required prefreezing limits number of batches that can be made at a time.
Summary: This ice cream maker is real easy to use and clean. Just put the bowl in the freezer overnight and follow the recipe for good results. The included recipe book is rather limited but more can be found online. Nothing beats homemade fresh mango ice cream!

Strengths: Convenient versus old-fashioned ice cream makers, very easy to clean, you know what the ingredients are in your ice cream.
Weaknesses: The wait!, another appliance to store.
Summary: I have been wanting to purchase an ice cream maker for as long as I remember and I finally took the plunge! After researching the different ice cream makers on the market I took a chance and bought this one.
The container the ice cream is made in is double-walled and filled with a liquid. You need to put this in your freezer long enough that when you shake it the liquid is completely frozen and no sloshing sounds are heard. Do not remove this from the freezer until all of your ingredients are ready and it speeds up the freezing process if the ingredients are pre-chilled in the refrigerator. Put the frozen container on the machine, pour in the ingredients, start the machine and... wait! It takes about 20 to 40 minutes for a soft batch of ice cream and you could place the bowl in the freezer if you prefer your ice cream more firm. Just make sure you seal any ice cream returned to the freezer because the fat in it will absorb odors and ruin the taste.
A recipe book comes with it and more recipes can be found on the web. It is fun experimenting with different ingredients and my kids come up with some pretty nasty concoctions that I won't touch but they love it! Although it is easier to go out and buy your favorite brand of ice cream, you know what is in the ice cream you make yourself and it is fun inventing different flavors. Watching my kids have fun and wait with anticipation is worth the cost alone.

Strengths: Simple, relatively inexpensive, excellent results
Weaknesses: zilch
Summary: The Cuisinart Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt and Sorbet Maker is a must have for any ice cream gourmand. I bought mine from eCOST for $41.99. Setup and operation is a breeze; Just plug in the base, place the mixing bowl on the base (pre-freeze the bowl ahead of time, preferably 24 hours, but you can get by with less), insert the mixing arm, place the lid over the bowl, turn it on and pour in your ice cream mixture. Let it churn for 30 minutes, and then *BOOM*, heaven on a spoon! Yes, it does turn out a tad soft after churning, but its recommended that the ice cream be popped in the freezer for an hour or two after its done if a more firm consistency is desired. For my first ice cream, I followed the recipe in the included recipe book for basic vanilla. Though it turned out a bit icy because I substituted skim milk and half and half for whole milk and heavy cream, the flavor and texture was extremely refreshing. Next, I decided to go all out and make the premium vanilla ice cream recipe using whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla beans, sugar, and eggs. It took what seemed like a lifetime to prepare, since the mixture had to tempered, cooked (because of the eggs), and ultimately chilled before churning, but the effort was well worth it, for when it was finished churning I had a sampling of the pale yellow peaks and experienced what I can only describe as silken ecstasy! For its price, quality, and ease of use, the Cuisinart Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt and Sorbet Maker can’t be beat!

Strengths: Inexpensive, easy to use and to clean.
Weaknesses: You will need a larger container if you want more ice cream at a time.
Summary: This ice cream maker is very easy to use. Just follow the instruction and you can make ice cream successfully almost every time. Also, it's easy to clean. A must have for summer. Recommended.

Strengths: The product is very easy to use and to clean.
Weaknesses: I would like the container to be larger so you could make at least 2 quarts at a time.
Summary: Follow the recipts for best results. Tried using soy milk and yougurt in our first batch. Result was OK right out of the ice cream maker, but froze into a solid block of ice in the freezer.

Strengths: Makes delicious, creamy frozen yogurt in about 25 minutes!
Weaknesses: Mixing bowl must be placed in freezer for 24 hours before ready to use.
Summary: My wife LOVES this thing! It's been one of her favorite gifts ever. Once you get in the habit of cleaning the mixing bowl and placing it in the freezer after each use, you are ready to enjoy a delicious homemade dessert every night.

Strengths: easy to use
Weaknesses: have to freeze the bowl a day in advance
Summary: My husband and I love homemade ice cream, but hate the mess of a traditional salt and ice packed freezer. This ice cream maker is the best! You have to keep the freezer bowl in the freezer, and can only make one flavor at a time (unless you buy a second bowl, which I recommend), but the results are wonderful! We have to put some in the freezer to harden for my husband. He likes to eat his ice cream in a cone. But, that's true even if we make it in a traditional freezer. This is much quicker, easier, and it makes just the right amount for us.

Strengths: All electric operation means no need for ice or salt, easy to use.
Weaknesses: For best results, freeze the bowl for 24 hours prior to using.
Summary: Finally, an ice cream maker that doesn't make a huge mess and actually works! There are four parts to this maker: lid, base, freezer bowl, and paddle. You simply freeze the bowl for a minimum of 6 hours (best if frozen 24 hours), mix your ingredients, place the bowl on the base and the paddle & ingredients inside the bowl, turn on the switch, and 20 minutes later you have ice cream! Most of the time, the ice cream is of the consistency of soft serve, freeze it for 1-2 hours and it will be more like traditional ice cream. This couldn't be any easier to use, and cleanup is very simple. We love it! We are now making simple and healthful frozen desserts, couldn't be happier.

POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS!
Strengths: NONE!
Weaknesses: POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS! POOR SERVICE!
Summary: HERE'S WHAT WE EMAILED TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT:
We recently bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker, model ICE-20. After being used a few times, it now stops running after 10 or 15 minutes, thus not completing it's cycle and rendering the unfinished ice cream inedible. This has happened the last 3 times it has been used. Should I return the product or throw it away? I'll refrain from posting reviews until I hear from you.
In addition, we bought a Cuisinart toaster a few years ago. I can't tell you how much toast we've burned since the controller failed a year after we bought it.
AFTER 4 DAYS, STILL NO RESPONSE!

Cuisinart ice cream maker, model ICE-20
Strengths: easy to use
Weaknesses: this product has a short life
Summary: I used this machine maybe 12 times with no trouble, then is just stop working. I have trouble believing the claim of a "heavy duty motor" If that is the case I would hate to see a regular motor. I can't recommend this ice cream maker.

Cuisinart ICE-20 Yogurt, Ice Cream maker
Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Bowl will not freeze, therefore yogurt and ice cream stay in liquid form.
Summary: I bought this as a gift for my wife, she loves frozen yogurt. We have attempted to make frozen yogurt three times. We have left the bowl in the freezer for 48 hours with the freezer set on high. The liquid in the bowl that is supposed to freeze still sloshes. The machine will NOT freeze the yogurt or ice cream. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.

Make your own ice cream easily
Strengths: you can make your own ice cream
Weaknesses: it is easier to buy ice cream
Summary: I do not own this, but my aunt does and I have used it frequently. It is easy, and it comes with a cool recipe book that I have utilized. The ice cream tastes great. It takes almost an hour for ice cream to be done. This is annoying because sometimes I don't even want ice cream any more by then. It is big and I wouldn't want to store it in my house just for ice cream that i could buy. But it is fun and the ice cream is good.
