Strengths: Great text and picture quality, DVI and VGA inputs, great space saver, no ghosting
Weaknesses: LCD flat panel monitor prices are still substantially over that of CRT monitors.
Summary: I have a Microtek scanner and was impressed with the quality of it so when I was looking to replace my 19" CRT monitor I was pleased to see that Microtek also makes LCD monitors. I picked up a Microtek 19" LCD monitor and hooked it up to my Apple Powermac G5. The monitor comes with both VGA and DVI inputs, which is helpful. It plugs into the DVI port directly on the back of my Mac, no adapters are needed. I also have a Dell 700m laptop and it plugs directly into that via VGA. The DVI is the preferable way to go, if you have it. It offers a digital, rather than analog connection which in my opinion leads to sharper text and pictures. The monitor connected via VGA is nice as well. Playing games on the monitor produced no "ghosting." The monitor was able to play games both on the PC and Mac without this common occurrence. Text is sharp and pictures are detailed. Calibrating the monitor on both the Mac and PC brought added detail to it. You can do this on the Mac via Display and Color Calibration or the PC with Adobe Gamma settings. In addition to the great display it is a huge space saver. I probably have 12" or more of extra space on my desk after getting rid of my CRT. I would highly recommend picking one up if you are in the market to replace an old monitor.
